Sad that you know that more than a few people are going to get shot or stabbed for the new consoles...

I never understood criminals. You're going to kill someone over a freaking game console? If you're going to commit murder why not go after a delivery truck driver and steal a whole load of them.

2013-11-13 07:57:00 AM
The only last-gen stabbing I'll be doing is in Dark Souls 2.

2013-11-13 07:57:32 AM
I'll just order mine through Amazon or something.

How do we know the guy with the Playstation wasn't trying to stop a fight between two other people?

Sony was smart to build their own virtual console. It is nice beign able to pick up old PS1/2 games on the cheap.

I'm holding off buying a Gen4 until either a Fallout, or Elder's Scroll game is ready to launch.

You're assuming two things that may not be right.
1. That the perp was using sound logic to begin with.
2. That the perp's main objective was to steal the device.

mine (Thief 4) doesn't come out till Feb 25th... that gives me some time to wait and see how the console is performing before committing to buying one.

I have an emulator on my phone. Those old early 3D platformers are shiat but it's nice pulling out Paradise Eve or something on the bus.

As a general rule, I don't get the next gen console until they start coming out with the greatest hits version of games. By then the console price will have come down, most of the major bugs will have been worked out, and a decent game library will exist for the console.

I still say a little prayer before booting up my fat launch machine with the hardware backwards compatibility.  I'm paranoid to the point where I don't use it to stream anything or play multiplayer... any unnecessary uptime just puts it closer to the inevitable YLOD.

I'll probably pick up a PS4 next year, once the second model is out and any hardware issues are worked out (the PS3's initial problems were largely firmware-related, but I'm still incredibly bitter about the piece of garbage that was the PS2 Series 30000).  My choice of console was made a lot simpler when Sony chose not to be retarded and put Netflix streaming behind an extra paywall.  Seriously, Microsoft, you thought requiring people pay $60/year to access their Netflix or Hulu was a smart idea?

So I can't play it at 720p on Xbox one or 1440p on my PC? Hmmm tough choice.

Real exclusives. Microsoft desperately needs to build some decent studios like Sony did.

pc isn't ps4. Don't have the time, money, or inclination to deal with the headaches of pc gaming anymore. Just want to be able to game on my couch after a couple of beers. The steam console does sound interesting though.

Play station just blows. Japan has been irrelevant to video games for over a decade.

You realize the steam machine is a PC in a small form factor box with HDMI out. You can build the exact same thing now and use your favorite controller.

Like I said, if the entire thing is going to be a time sink I'm really not interested. If its plug and play and offers a reliable stable platform for gaming then ill be willing to sink the cash.

Strange...I have had fewer issues with my PC than my PS3 with things "just working" over the life of the PS3.  Maybe your reference is just a bit dated?

Sure, there's usually more one-time configuration to do of a game to tweak in the performance vs. graphics balance you find acceptable, but I kind of like having that ability to tweak it.

my experience is with the xbox. I had a rrod once and then several years later my DVD drive crapped out. I went through 3 laptops in the same period *shrugs*

WAT?

I have no idea what you're talking about. I've had both a PC and a PS3 for years and neither one is any more of a hassle than the other. They both occasionally want updates, occasionally the individual games want updates, but, other than that, nothing. If I want to play a game for a precious half-hour I just turn it on. Since most of my games anymore come off Steam or GoG I don't even have to "pop in" a disc. I just start it and play. Not sure what "dicking around" you think has to occur. It's not 1993, I don't have to run MEMMAKER.EXE or anything first.

I can't speak for the 360 since I don't have one, but, if anything, the PS3 is the bigger hassle because they seem to always take the goddamn PSN down for hours whenever I want to do something that requires it. How a service that does so little can require so much and so invasive maintenance is beyond me.

It will be exactly what we have now. A small scale PC running either your choice STEAMOS or Windows 7. That said the days of playing with drivers or confiqs pretty much died in the late 90s early 00s. All you do now is download the game from Steam and click play.

Because on most computers, you cannot just simply POP in a PC game and...start playing. I've tried. It was laggy, so I had to update something, something I don't have time for. Something I don't have to do on XBOX 360. Then there was something about graphics and audio, stuff I don't have time to dick around with.

I know, I clicked the wrong name. I was responding to the virtual console comment.

I have zero problems running games on PC, what are people talking about? Wow it may take 5 minutes to install. Oh no, you may have to change the options to better fit your screen, one time only.

I have a PS3 and when I download a new game I have to wait for the installation too. And then there's usually an update to install.

In other words, it takes just as long on PS3 and it's just as difficult. If you find PC gaming hard to figure out, that says a lot more about what's in your skull than it does the PC.
