Eh, I liked 50 first dates. Mostly it was Drew Barrymore but whatever. Happy Gilmore is pretty funny as well

Yep, liked those. Probably his best 3, but not everything he's in is a total pile of shiat, subby...

Forgot about that one. It wasn't bad either

Nice punchline, subby.  Where'd you steal it?  The first line of the article?  You stole a joke from Gawker and you think you have a right to make fun of Adam Sandler?  What is this I don't even

A shiatload of totally awful movies for every one that is OK. Going to a Sandler movie is like putting your money on 00 on the roulette wheel.

Just everything from the last ten years or so.

I liked Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.

2013-11-12 05:13:07 PM
The Waterboy is great.

And Billy Madison only because it's insanely quotable.

2013-11-12 05:13:22 PM
Yeah..."The Wedding Singer" was good...i'm a guy from the 80's.  But I thought "That's my boy" was farking hilarious!!

2013-11-12 05:20:28 PM
The Waterboy was the only good one.

2013-11-12 05:20:39 PM
I'm going to say this and I understand the repercussions:

I liked "Jack & Jill"

It was awful.  It was ridiculous.  But Al Pacino was absurd and although I'm not a twin, I know a "Jill" so maybe I related to it too much.
But I enjoy it every time it's on Starz.

Next, I liked "That's My Boy"

TERRIBLE movie.  Just terrible.  And it's so asinine that I enjoy it every time it's on.

I DO like good comedies, but listen, sometimes you just want a Big Mac.

2013-11-12 05:21:20 PM
I think we should all take up a collection for Subby, so that we can buy him/her one of these new televisions that doesn't require being on 24/7 and only plays Adam Sandler movies.

I thought the one with the raining gumballs was a decent one, being a parent. Much better than the type of shiat you get from Eddie Murphy, now that he went "family friendly", but yeah, otherwise, it's been pretty crappy for awhile now. But like I said, not ALL of them.

Have to admit, the last Sandler movie that I liked was Little Nicky...

/Was Drunk Punch Love before or after Little Nicky?
//Kinda meh towards 50 First Dates...

Mr. Dugan, the films you've directed are the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent career were you even close to anything that could be considered a good movie. Everyone in this world is now dumber for having seen them. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Bedtime Stories worked for the same reason Punch Drunk Love did, it was Sandler not playing Sandler.  I wish he'd do that more often, because it has a retardedly high batting average.

Adam Sandler's producing partner Jack Giarraputo is going to be stepping down from Happy Madison, the production company he and Sandler started almost 20 years ago, ostensibly due to the fact that he realized he was responsible for putting Adam Sandler movies out into the world.

...the You Don't Mess With The Zohan producer is leaving at the young age of 46 to spend more time with his family

Idiot writer doesn't know the subtext of "ostensibly". It would be more correct to say that he's quitting ostensibly to spend more time with his family.

He should make a final movie where Sandler's character and all of his friends die in some funny accident and the last ten minutes are just life going on as if they didn't exist.

2013-11-12 06:00:37 PM
I like most of Sandler's movies, but I really wish he'd let someone else star in them. I really don't like Sandler. He seems much more mean spirited than I think he wants people to believe. Looking back on Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, the star of both movies was a huge doucher with no redeeming qualities.

Was going to make a Dennis Dugan "For the love of God, stop cheating on Col. Potter's daughter every two weeks in reruns" joke, but the article ain't about him.

So that means no more "A lovable/arrested man-child/idiot must overcome intellectual obstacles to save his inheritance/daddy's business/grandma's house from a scheming schyster/corporation/bob barker, all with help from his friends/teacher/girlfriend along the way" movies?

Aww shucks.

I liked Gridiron Gang.

2013-11-12 07:07:53 PM
He always makes enough money to get him and his friends sent to wherever to film and hangout, his productions are never troubled. He's like a low rent Woody Allen that just churns out movies and no one seems to mess with him.

Also, I buy into Half in the Bag's theory that his movies are a Producers like money embezzling/laundering con.

2013-11-12 07:13:46 PM
Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore are his best. After that I would go Little Nicky, Waterboy, That's my Boy, then Zohan. The rest are either awful or romantic comedies which are the same thing to me because I hate romance of any kind.

I don't think any of his movies have ever bombed. They all make money. The Grownups movies made a killing and they're just Sandler and his SNL buddies farting around on a camping trip. Even Jack and Jill made money. The secret is that his movies are dirt cheap to make and he always puts his friends in them so there's no extravagant casting costs, exotic locations or extensive visual effects. And they're all paid off with product placement so anything at the box office is pure net profit.

Hollywood loves a safe bet like that. It will never say no to a Sandler movie no matter how stupid it is.

After "That's My Boy," resigning is the least that producer can do.

/Saw that movie for free and still felt robbed.

People may call him an idiot but Adam Sandler is stupider like a fox. There are a lot of big name critically acclaimed sorts that can't avoid box office bombs. Now, one can argue that money isn't the end-all be-all of filmmaking (but it is) I don't think that anyone can argue that Sandler isn't making the movies he wants to make. Ie, he isn't "slumming" or wishing for something greater. Objectively, you have to admire that. Hollywood is a cruel biatch goddess, the queen of broken dreams.

Wow. You're like a unicorn. We need to tag you and study your habits.

I liked Airheads a lot but I wouldn't call that an "Adam Sandler" movie.

The Wedding Singer was good but I have a .....spot for Drew Barrymore.

I really liked Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and Big Daddy.

Yeah, they were all made between 10 and 15 years ago (more?).

I haven't seen any of his movies made within the last 5 years or so.  The commercials just seem so so dumb.  Perhaps I would get more enjoyment out of them than I think if I saw them now as they approach network TV.  (Netflix? What's that?)

2013-11-12 07:58:30 PM
For some reason whenever I see "Happy Gilmore" or "The Waterboy" on cable I have to watch them.  Absolutely stupid movies but I can't help myself.

Mugato: Wow. You're like a unicorn. We need to tag you and study your habits.

I know, I know.  The thing is I'm pretty much a movie snob too.

Again, I'm not saying it's a good movie.  It's HORRENDOUS!

But Al Pacino cracks me up in it.

I WANT to hate it (I want to hate most of his movies) but I end up enjoying them!

The Goldbergs is excellent and was pleasantly surprised to see Happy Madison was involved.

I thought he was pretty good in Reign Over Me.

2013-11-12 08:28:23 PM
I'll play along:

Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky & Mr. Deeds. Cracked me the fark up

Click was better than any Sandler movie had any right to be.

I also liked Punch Drunk Love but that was a PT Anderson flick.

The rest of his stuff is OK at best

/haven't seen anything since Chuck & Larry

2013-11-12 08:29:50 PM
My guess, he's being tried in The Hague.
