What the hell is wrong with Republicans and Conservatives?  It seems that anything and everything they do has to have some anti-democrat or Jesus/Bible thumpin' theme attached to it.

You are free to preach to those you are giving free shiat to, if that is what you really want to do...but telling people that their assistance is not welcomed because they do not pray to the same magical sky wizard as you is simply farked up.

Getting anyone to volunteer their time is a challenge in an of itself...now telling a dozen people who are willing, is simply going to alienate future volunteers.

Buncha shortsighted assholes.  Fark 'em!!!

Reactionaries in general have a totalitarian bent. Which is why these people need things like Conservapedia, that Conservative bible translation, UnSkewed™ polls and Liberty University.

2013-11-12 01:34:04 PM
Ironically, conservatives are the reason most of those people are homeless in the first place.

2013-11-12 01:34:40 PM
It's nice that everyone tries to feed the poor and homeless twice a year. Just need to get people to care as much for the other 363 days a year.

2013-11-12 01:35:04 PM
well then idiots, don't mention you're an atheist next time and you can get help. But it doesn't sound like they really want to help, it just sounds like they want the atheist group to get the recognition.

2013-11-12 01:35:20 PM
so what's the point of trying to get rich if there are no benefits to being so?

2013-11-12 01:35:22 PM
Yeah, but those athiests are probably sarcastic on the internet, so they're just as bad.

2013-11-12 01:35:27 PM
THANKS OBAMA!!!
/someone had to say it

2013-11-12 01:36:07 PM
They should set up their own food for the homeless thing, but with blackjack and hookers.

2013-11-12 01:36:12 PM
So are they not going to help feed the homeless this year?  I mean really, what would Jesus do?

2013-11-12 01:36:35 PM
It's too bad you have to use a shield like religion to point out what pompous a-holes atheists are.
/runs away

2013-11-12 01:36:35 PM
Atheism is a Religion.

Just not a very good one.

2013-11-12 01:36:57 PM
So you can't hand out food without a side of religious derp.

2013-11-12 01:37:32 PM
Is there something stopping Atheists from doing their own feed-the-poor drive?
I mean, other than...

2013-11-12 01:37:36 PM
That's like cutting off your dick to spite your face.......or something like that.....

2013-11-12 01:38:21 PM
Atheists really have to eventually find a way to organize themselves in some manner, if this is really an issue in any real way.

//Yes, I know they already do.

2013-11-12 01:38:36 PM
This is saddening and unsurprising.

2013-11-12 01:38:50 PM
Look, if the religious can't rely on converting desperate starving people to fill their ranks, how else are they supposed to expand in this day and age of reason and science?

Langdon Alger: well then idiots, don't mention you're an atheist next time and you can get help. But it doesn't sound like they really want to help, it just sounds like they want the atheist group to get the recognition.

They've done it in the past with no issue, and are moving forward now with alternate plans to help. It sounds more like you're butthurt that someone other than Christians are doing something.

2013-11-12 01:39:05 PM
damn atheists, if they really cared about the homeless they would accept jesus as their lord and savior and not be so selfish

wildcardjack: It's nice that everyone tries to feed the poor and homeless twice a year. Just need to get people to care as much for the other 363 days a year.

These evil Christians handed out over 86k meals last year.

Selfish bastards.

But, the atheist group is going to adopt one family for Thanksgiving, so it's all good.

/It's a Christian outreach program, they are justified in wanting their message to be a part of it
//they aren't preventing atheists from feeding people.

2013-11-12 01:40:32 PM
kind of sad, but it IS a church function. I hope the athiests do some good this year and maybe everyone can be friends next year.

Let's try that.

2013-11-12 01:40:42 PM
It's for the best. I've always heard that atheists are not moral anyway. They'd probably just use charity like this as an excuse to push their beliefs.

2013-11-12 01:40:57 PM
"Kansas City Rescue Mission has decided to use the meals they deliver as a chance to proselytize to its recipients by inserting religious literature into the meals," the coalition noted.

This from an organization that states: "Our mission is to advance atheism through activism, philanthropy, education and the cultivation of a positive secular community."

But it's bad if a religious organization advances theism through philanthropy.

Why atheists are not a group.

Just like there isn't a group who have no allegience to the red sox. And no group for people who don't like peanut butter.

Because Jesus certainly wouldn't want atheists mingling with his Chosen.

Somebody didn't RTFA.

It's an organization called the "Kansas city Atheists Association".  They are volunteering as a group.

Ironically what you accuse them of is actually being done by the Kansas City Rescue Mission which is claimed to be using the meals as a chance to push their religion on people.

I'm shocked that Christians aren't just helping people to help people.

Kinda weird for a non-group to have a mission statement...

It wasn't an issue the last two years when they were allowed to volunteer.

Langdon Alger: But it doesn't sound like they really want to help, it just sounds like they want the atheist group to get the recognition.

They helped the last two years, there's no reason to believe that they didn't intend to help this time.

in all honesty a lot of churches have food pantries that serve their community 365 and no they are not limited to only feeding the homeless Christians.

I took Carlin's advice not praying to god or whatever higher power you want to believe in.  Pray to Joe Pesci----a guy who can get shiat done.Pray to god all you want about the neighbors noisy dog and nothing happens. One word to Joe and he and his baseball bat got that dog real quiet real quick.

And yet they were willing to volunteer to help a Christian organization hand out food to people in need.

Hmm, yup. Definitely a case of pot and kettle here!

Oh I forgot. When Christians try to spread their beliefs they are "just expressing their opinions" but when a non-Christian dares to have an ideology they are "pushing their beliefs and oppressing Christians".

Solution:
"Sure I believe in God"
*Helps the homeless*
"Guess what suckers? I DON'T believe in God! You just got served by an athiest...in both senses of the word. Peace out, biatches."

That's good, because after two or three Christians I just can't eat another bite.

There is only so many little pieces of bread to go around, if the atheists eat them all then the homeless won't have any.

Congratulations on ignoring some very essential messages of christianity, folks. Even the pope says "love the atheists". Can you not see past your own hatred to see that a man in need is a man in need mo matter his faith?

They mingle all the time.  I have religious friends, and it isn't really THAT much of a problem.  Maybe we can all resolve to not be dicks in 2014.

sounds more to me that the group doesn't really want to feed the homeless they're just using that as an excuse to get their foot in the door so they can preach to them.

There is such a non need that in our area, the rif raf will not even accept the free food if the sell by date is even close to the current date.   The poor do not even need to buy their own food and reject free food that isnt up to their standards of a hand out.
