But having children is more a choice than a random act of nature. People who drive a new Porsche pay more for car insurance than those who drive an old Chevy

Which explains why you're trying to ban birth control?

Precisely. It's a choice - an evil, slutty choice if made out of wedlock - to have children. All humans should be virginal before being wed under the relentless, loving gaze of Jesus.

There are few times when Farkers embarrass me. This is one of them.

God forbid any of you ever have to live through something of this nature. I hope you never have to answer the phone and hear your inconsolably weeping wife on the other end of the line as she mutters the only words she is able to muster "They made me buy a 914!".

fta But having children is more a choice than a random act of nature. People who drive a new Porsche pay more for car insurance than those who drive an old Chevy. We consider that fair because which car you drive is a choice. Why isn't having children viewed in the same way?

So Republicans believe that if you drive a Chevy, your children are less deserving of a healthy life? That's going to be an interesting bumper sticker.

Nothing at all to do with banning it, just whether employers should have to pay for it.

No, whether it should be covered by insurance. Insurance that employees pay for as well.

If I'm paying premiums for insurance, I don't believe my employer's religious beliefs should dictate what medical benefits my health plan pays for. Kind of think those should maybe be dictated by what medical science thinks I might need.

Your health insurance is part of the compensation for the work you do.  So, fark this BS about it being some sort of gift from on high.  They owe it to you if it is part of your hiring contract!

Compensation is negotiable within acceptable limits (e.g., minimum wage, overtime requirements, etc.). The fed has decided one of those limits is that insurance plans must cover birth control. Why is this somehow different? Because rubes don't understand biology?

I had a vasectomy over a decade ago.  Every single insurance policy I've had since has had provisions that would cover my significant other if she got pregnant.  Even when I haven't had a significant other.  Over fourteen years now and I haven't received a discount on my insurance due to this.

Thanks Obama.

See, this is totally anti-male. It's not as if women give birth to males. Males wouldn't benefit from some woman getting good prenatal care. They sure wouldn't suffer if there are problems with delivery. And will someone please think of the lesbians who don't want kids! It's not like women give birth to lesbians, either!

That's not the Pope, that's American Catholics, backstopped by the Evangelical Religious Right.  Birth control is already covered under the universal healthcare in Catholic countries like Germany, France and Italy.
