This. Stupid farktards like Open Carry Texas give 2nd Amendment supporters a bad name, and are shooting their own cause in the foot. The more douchebags like this try to intimidate those who disagree with them, the more the general populous will side with those who want stricter gun control in America.

It is almost like these farktards want to incite the Government to come after them, so they can have an excuse to shoot back. Raging dumbasses, the lot of 'em!

Yep, that's why all 50 states now have concealed carry and 5 now have Constitutional Carry, with Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground spreading.

I never understood the point of open carry.

OMG I HAVE A GUN RESPECT ME or something... i get concealed carry for protection, but how does openly brandishing a firearm do anything but escalate every single situation that person is involved in and make everyone around you nervous.

I don't think I'd like to openly carry a gun (in some places it is required). I'm not the cops. I don't want people looking at me to protect them if someone starts shooting at them. I'll be running away from the crazy criminal too.

Although I don't think it makes everyone nervous. I'm not nervous when I see people openly carrying guns. I'm nervous when I see someone pull one out of his pants pocket in 7Eleven, but some guy in Walmart wants to carry a holstered handgun that is OK with me. Maybe he doesn't own any small guns to go with whatever he is wearing that day.

I'm ok with that kinda thing.. its more the rifle on the sling.. And people carrying guns make me nervous.  I've been to the public range at the state park enough to know that for some people 'gun safety' is more of an option than a requirement.

I think all carry should be open. people should have the right to defend themselves by knowing who is packing. concealment makes it harder to know who is packing.

There are problems with that.  First of all, it (rightly) freaks people out, and second, if there are people legitimately carrying weapons openly, it makes it harder to tell if someone carrying a weapon openly is a maniac about to go on a rampage or a law abiding citizen.  Mandating concealed carry only at least makes it clear that when someone has a gun visible, there's a problem, and that the police should be notified.

That's not to say that a maniac couldn't conceal their weapon as well, but it does limit the type of firepower they can carry.

In my ideal world there would be no right to carry in public at all, concealed or open, aside from at the range, on private property with the owner's permission, or in an approved hunting area, with guns having to be transported between those areas locked away and unloaded.  That's a balance between allowing gun owners to have their weapons for protecting their homes and using them in legitimate pursuits while also protecting the public safety.

FlyingLizardOfDoom: concealment makes it harder to know who is packing.

That is the point.

I'm not the cops. If some nutjob bursts through the door and starts firing recklessly I don't want you running to hide behind me. I'm not saving you and you'll be in my way as I run to the back exit.

It is none of your business if I'm carrying a gun. I probably am, but you don't need to know that.

There's a lot to love about the UK.  Socialized health care, sane gun regulations, an excellent rail network and great public transportation in London, pleasant weather (well, to me), and I like British food.  I spent a semester over there in college and thought it was great.

What I had was for the most part very good.  I was in London though so the overall bar was probably a bit higher than it is in other places, and aside from possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had, the rest of the international fare was great - Indian, Middle-Eastern, Malaysian, etc.

While I'll agree that the particular photo there has some unfortunately positioned sausages, the actual dish is very tasty.  Sausages are good, Yorkshire pudding is good, the combination is therefore good (not always a hard and fast rule, but it works here).

I notice the Jamie Oliver recipe calls for a neutral oil when making the Yorkshire pudding.  It's better when you can use a more flavorful fat, like roast drippings.  Think about it like dipping rolls in the juice from a steak or roast leftover on your plate, but in this case having it baked into the bread from the start.

Actually, I bet it would be tasty to try it with leftover bacon fat, I might have to try that.

I was at Burgerville this weekend when a guy a few tables over loudly bragged to his tablemates about intentionally pissing other drivers on the road off.   This was in order to create a situation where the other driver confronts him and he gets to pull out his gun.  He then laughed his ass off about people reacting in fear to him pulling a gun on them.

Just minutes before, Mr. "Responsible Gun Owner" was whining about there not being any common courtesy anymore.  All the while his kids were running around the restaurant and smearing food everywhere.
