He wasn't at WTC. $850 isn't enough to stop benefits. And turning him down is treating him like a criminal? Wtf is all this subby?

Homeless good Samaritan James Brady deserves to have homeless good Samaritan James Brady's story about homeless good Samaritan James Brady be written by a journalist whose respect for homeless good Samaritan James Brady manifest itself in good writing about homeless good Samaritan James Brady.

I hope that if homeless good Samaritan James Brady is indeed real, and homeless good Samaritan James Brady's story isn't bullshiat, homeless good Samaritan James Brady finds some respite for the terrible circumstance that homeless good Samaritan James Brady finds himself in.

A one time find of $850 disqualifies you from benefits?  We're missing something here.

The only thing that wasn't left out is he's a homeless Good Samaritan. This has to be one of the worst stories I've ever read.

Did anyone else notice how badly written TFA was?

/because... damn
//made me imagine Nancy Grace shrieking "homeless Good Samaritan!"

Apparently you did.  The fact that one was good was noteworthy.

I think most of them were pretty indifferent at best

Meh. I'm Catholic. I don't have to read the Bible. We have people to do that for us during Mass.

Ok he lost them for a couple of months for not reporting it as income not for turning it in or getting it back. That's clearer.

But he was SUPPOSED to be there! I was there in 1999. I'm a survivor, too.

After discovering that he was supposed to be at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the trauma of being so close to death hit him hard.

So a survivor means simply not showing up to work that day? Thanks subby, I'll remember that so I can get a greenlight too.

This is absurd. He wasn't a survivor of any attack on 9/11. $850 is not enough to get you kicked off medicaid, this is complete bullshiat.

He was denied not because he got $850, but because he failed to report a change in his income.

See the story linked upthread. This really is about exactly what subs indicated.

I know, I know. Totally atypical for Fark.

Just so I can figure out where things stand, is "I was supposed to be there that day" better or worse than "I can see an airport from my window" in terms of fear-inducement over 9/11?

No, the guy is not a survivor of 9/11 any more than you or I are survivors of 9/11. He didn't get kicked off for having $850 he got kicked off for not reporting income.
It has nothing to do with the US government it is a county/city thing.

It is not at all what subs indicated.

It is unfortunate, and I would think that an appeal to a supervisor could sort it out, but it is not as subs said.

As a way to counteract the sheer retardation I just read here is a 9/11 joke for your enjoyment:

Knock knock.
Who's there?
9/11
9/11 who?
YOU SAID YOU'D NEVER FORGET!

HOMELESS GOOD SAMARITAN JAMES BRADY GETTING KICKED OFF MEDICAID WAS AN INSIDE JOB!

Homeless people don't burn through money that quickly!

His life collapsing was a controlled demolition!

Hey, i'm alive and I survived 9/11 too I guess.... from Canada even.  *fistbump*

I, unfortunately, did NOT survive 9/11, and hence am eligible for benefits, but I cannot collect or use those benefits, as I am dead, not having survived 9/11.

The only thing I can think of is he lives in some backassward GOP bootstrappy area where they put crazy restrictions on aid to keep "the libtards from forcing them to support welfare queens".

I read an almost exact opposite story about rapist Matthew Barnett. Does anybody remember the rape story about rapist Matthew Barnett? The difference is that the rapist Matthew Barnett was not a homeless Good Samaritan like James Brady was a homeless Good Samaritan. He was a rapist, that Matthew Barnett.

I was thinking about going to the general area, and maybe even close to the same day and time.

Anything the gov't considers income will potentially affect your benefits. Despite some people's beliefs that there are welfare queens and poor people taking advantage of the system, if you follow the guidelines the laws are strict and there are many thing that could cause you to lose benefits or raise the amount you have to pay for rent or other items. What I guess happened to this guy is that the $850 pushed this guy's income above acceptable levels so his benefits was yanked. Not like $850 carries anyone far, but it's enough for the government to say you have too much money for them to help you.
