2 of those reasons involved either going somewhere warm, or the end of winter.  The rest suck.

As long as the roads are passable (eg. light dusting of snow), I'm OK with winter. Having your vehicle encased in ice? Not so much....

/ still prefer the cold to unbearable hot & muggy weather ( no AC )

And so the Huffington Post, which for a while looked like it might fulfill the promises of Internet journalism, has turned into little more than a Buzzfeed clone. Hell, even words about the joys of winter (ya know, an essay) would have been better than these hastily-assembled stock photos.

What's next? "One weird trick for losing weight?"

Remove pounds of snow per minute using this one weird shovel trick.

Meanwhile beach vacations have never been needed more to beat the cold weather

I live in Oregon. If you think the beaches here will "beat the cold weather" you've got another thing coming.

Malamute owner in Canada. I'd consider myself lucky if an hour of playing ball or socializing would suffice.

Snow is beautiful when it falls, it's totally normal to drink hot chocolate on a regular basis and visiting family (can be) really enjoyable.

I live in a region where snow never, ever, ever falls. If I drank hot chocolate on a regular basis I would be drenched in sweat and diabetic. And most of my family are d-bags. And all of the other "reasons" they listed require the presence of snow and other winter weather. Humbug.

This year, for the first time since the 1970s I was unable to ride my motorcycles, having spent the last six months on crutches because of foot surgery last spring. The only reason that I am looking forward to winter is that it will be followed by spring and the 2014 riding season.

At least Ms Capt. is properly ready having just tucked the SLK away next to the bikes and acquired a new-to-us Cross Country.

I'm in Washington. The beaches have a rugged beauty even during winter. And the best thing is that nobody will be there when I go.

I concur.

More like 3/4. Sure I have to deal with temperatures occasionally in the low 40s, and dig out my jeans and long sleeved shirts, but still...

Funny, I thought winter was when we went off of DST since, y'know, it's during the summer that we want to  save and extra hour of daylight for the evening.

Yes I find it interesting that Drudge list every round of golf at the top of the page. These same people hate Obama  (you would think they would encourage him to do nothing but golf). but apparently as soon as he takes his hand from the rudder of the ship it is time to panic!

www.petexpertise.com That is how I tire my German Shepherd out in winter. I even use it inside if I'm really desperate. I don't live in Canada though so winter is much shorter. I also have ultra warm clothes and dog boots for my dog (I only use them for really bad days when the sidewalks are covered in salt or very slick ice or when ice balls would form between his foot pads) so we can take winter walks. Our local park is deserted in winter, tromping through 4' of snow eventually tires my dog out.

I also hide toys and treats in the house and tell him to 'find it' and he searches the house, sprinting the whole time. If we are really bored in winter I will put handfuls of his food in newspaper, wad it up (do this a whole bunch and mix up empty newspaper too) and put it in a cardboard box for him to search through. Mental exercise can tire a dog out.

I love winter except for the whole eternal darkness thing.

And how many did Bush play? Or is counting golf games only important when it is the other party in power?

There is a difference between it snowing and it actually being cold. Cold is a relative term and in some places when the snow starts, the drop in temperature has barely begun.

Kind of like you.  Seems to be a perfect fit.

in all seriousness, it is a fun winter pastime.  Scenery, speed, carving UP and down the hills.  It can be fun as hell.  Just need to be careful and know some safety rules.

Somehow doubt this is a Huffpo approved activity, though.

In many places, it does not snow until it warms up.  It doesn't snow much when it is -40.

20.  heat and humidity greatly aggravate my asthma and every case of pneumonia I've ever had was in the blazing, muggy middle of summer.

21.  The starving mosquitoes go away for a little while  Taking care of a mom with West Nile is almost as much fun as having it yourself.

yes, the aurora borealis shows up with snow on the ground in lots of warm climates.  It alos looks like that are a couple images from Austria, or the apls, anyway.

That would be more than "not one".

Winter is fun for about three weeks. Come late January, when it's two degrees (F) I am more than ready for it to be summer again

I miss the winter, I've endured worse summer and I can deal better with cold than I can with heat...
