Holy f*ck I would have loved this when I was 16.

Not that Overkill and Pantera left me hanging or anything.

Well, if this is real metal, then real metal is CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!

meh. Not a big fan of melodic death metal in any case, but this did nothing for me.

At least it's not a Michael Jackson cover though.

I quite like this album though -

I made it 11 seconds before deciding this was full of weaksauce,  then just laughed out loud when the vocals kicked in.

Did Leader O' Cola submit a headline? Oh, just listened. This is on par with Stryper in his eyes.

Anyone here a fan of Kvelertak? My friend wants me to go see them with him but I've only heard one album on the way back from last week's Watain show. I liked it, but it wasn't great. A good mix of rock, punk, and black. He insists it will be a really fun "party metal" show. Plus High on Fire are headlining. I've never really gave High on Fire a chance but some of you Farkers seem to like them. Worth going? I'd like to think so.

They're good, and High on Fire is pretty good too - I think it would be worth going. I imagine that the music would be more exciting live for both bands.

Drums sounded like they were auto sync'd, besides that seemed ok until the cookie monster showed up straight off the bmx trail with his baseball had on and started spitting all over the microphone. Would have preferred something more along the vocal strains of Kind Diamond.

Yes I am old.

It should be an enjoyable show. I think the Kvelertak album is one of the better releases from this year. High on Fire is always glorious.

Some music I recently discovered:

Caladan Brood - Book of the Fallen (Epic Atmospheric Black Metal), fans of Summoning should love this  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjIu6ZoyUwg

Hordak - Spreading the Firewings (Pagan Metal)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm4_TsX7Kng

Morok - Last Path (Slavic Blackened Pagan Metal)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnYo8fWy7hA

Sounded like a Rottweiler choking on prowler finger bones while the finger's owner noisily expires behind a dumpster full of rabid raccoons.

Or Extreme- I can't decide.

Saw HOF years back, pretty good show, and Opeth tore up the pavement as usual. Do expect alot of stoners, if that's your sort of thing.

I would consider this industrial dance music. It would have been great in the late '90s at the Soundgarden downtown.

Instrumental work = enjoyable
Vocals = I personally did not find the vocal style befitting of the instrumental work.  This isn't to knock any sort of harsher or cookie vocals, just that I didn't find the particular vocal style used to match the rest of the song.

Overall - Limited listening, I want to hear more of the instruments, and less of the singer.

An example of cookier/harsher vocals that I feel fits the flow of the instruments in a song would be Drawn to Black by Insomnium, and in my opinion they've only gotten better at matching everything up for the entirety of the song from that point.

Hopefully in future releases Parasite Inc. can clean things up.

It's not about the hair. Just something particularly non-metal about baseball caps, at least to me.

Scott Ian has been known to wear one, too. Not sure if he still does.

He's the only person i can think of who made it work.

Charlie Benante from Anthrax also wore one on occasion as I recall. Then again Anthrax has never seemed to worry about whether anyone takes them seriously or not.

I personally enjoy Insomnium, but I understand that with music, everyone has different tastes.

\m/

I'm interested to see what effect the replacement guitarist has on future offerings.  If I recall correctly, the lead singer basically gets it all done, so hopefully things won't be drastically different.
