1.5 oz Lemon Juice
1.5 oz Lime juice
3/4 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp hot sauce

1 TB Worcestershire Sauce

Take all the ingredients, put them on the bar, and stare at them while you pour yourself a glass of bourbon or rye.

OK, sorry for the threadjack, but bloody mary reminds me of tomato juice which reminds me of Clamato juice, that nasty clam and tomato drink, which then reminded me of some people I know who love that stuff and they also love clamato budwieser. Can you believe this product exists and people consume it?
I had to Google it to verify it was real.

I had one called "The Weekender" at an airport once (can't remember which airport but it had a lot of moose decor) and it had all the typical Bloody Mary stuff, including a jumbo shrimp, a hunk of Velveeta, a cocktail sausage, a pear onion and more all on a wooden skewer. I felt kind of sick afterwards. String cheese would have been better than Velveeta.

I was trying to remember the name of the mix I used to use, and that's it. Their spicy is so good and strong, it lets you add lots of vodka to make it good and strong. And that's pretty much all I remember.

Bloody Marys with Clamato are awesome.

Appalachian Zest Sauce is also a good addition (if you are outside of WV you are SOL, tho).

Bloody Marys are all about the salad you make on top.

But, I have a few additions:

1) Use a little Dijon Mustard -- this will add some richness that you might dig.
2) Celery Salt, in the mix and/or around the edge (with pepper)
3) Tabasco gives you heat -- but you should be looking for flavor, use a little tabasco and use other hot sauces to round out the flavor
http://www.hotsaucecatalog.com/inner-beauty-hot-hot-sauce/
http://www.the-barbados-shop.com/delish-bajan-hot-pepper-sauce/

4) fresh horseraddish is better than stuff in a jar
5) you don't need to overdue it -- pedestrians make it extremely spice, make if flavorful first.

This is what I've tried -- home made at a bar in Ogunquit, Maine -- i thought it was way too heavy. I'm guessing there

No no no. It wasn't in a Bloody Mary, so no horseradish or tomato involved. It was a shot and believe it or not it didn't taste too bad. Nothing I'd order regularly, but a tasty novelty shot. It was like the first time I had a Brown Cow (Milk, Coke, sugar and Kahlua (syrup optional)). Sounded like shiat, but tasted pretty good.

Bloodies are very different. I have a few 'standard' recipes, but I like to experiment.
Don't waste top-shelf vodak on them.
Summer Bloodies with fresh tomatoes are great.
This week I'm having a few fresh local oysters with mine.

I'll switch to beer later and broil the oysters.

Mike's Fort Lauderdale Lagnappe's Restaurant Broiled Oysters

Oyster on the half shell
bit of cocktail sauce
dash of Worcestershire
few drops of Tabasco
1 grind fresh pepper

Quick broil until oysters firm up. Toaster-Oven works well.

I like the Zing Zang premix but that stuff is high in salt and not very cheap.

Here is what the wife and I use for our Bloody Mary Recipe with the exception that when I make it I do NOT use cranberry juice. I also use peppercorn infused vodka. I am not going to claim it is the best or worst but for my particular tastes I want it flavorful and spicy. Using tomato juice over v8 just doesn't cut it for me but it would reduce the salt content.

Ingredients:
1 cup of V8
1 cup of Cranberry juice
1/4 shot of worchester
1/4 shot of hot sauce
1/4 shot of Sazon Ranchero liquid seasoning
2 shots of Vodka
2 tablespoons of onions
1 shot of lime juice
1 shot of lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Add 4 ice cubes in two cups
Chill two cups
Chill drink mixture for 10 minutes
Remove drink mixture from refrigerator and mix via pulsing in the blender
Garnish with 3 olives and one pickle in each cup

This recipe makes two pints

HEATHEN! Bacon + dark chocolate + sea salt = the best thing ever. Seriously. If you can find this, you should try it. World Market carries them, as do a number of 'boutique' chocolate shops. Worst-case scenario you can order them online.

The first time I tried one it stalled my brain for a good thirty to forty seconds while I parsed what I had just consumed. Then everything fired back up and it was amazing.
