Meh. I won't claim he's the best, but he's certainly one of the most influential. I have tremendous respect for his life achievements, and even his latest album is better than the majority of the schlock they try and pass off as rap and hip-hop these days.

Dr Dre.

Does the writer of this article understand what the meaning of "dissed" is?

Perhaps he has it mixed up with "mentioned".

Nah, they had a spar on Guilty Conscience, but it was all in fun.

i've always considered eminem to be a "guilty pleasure" because he's actually really talented, and despite (or maybe because of) him dropping "f*g-bombs" all over the place, i still wanted to bend him over the pleasure bar... :P he's easily one of the most attractive rappers out there, THAT'S for dayum sure.

Oh, right. Technically, that would be correct. My bad. Good catch.

Since the headline links to an article that links to an article that links to an article on the subject, I think Eminem should be dissing Subby.

;-)

Someone hasn't listened to "The Real Slim Shady" and "Criminal" in awhile.

/although I guess it's debatable if the "diss" was only made in jest

I just can't get beyond that whiny voice and tiresome staccato. Most overrated rapper ever.

It's funny you should say that. Whether you like the guy or not, his command of meter and verse is legendary. To the point that he is now commonly used to teach basic poetry concepts, even at the college level.

His subject matter is a bit tired - dude, you're 40; no one is still that angry at 40 - and he's clearly not getting personal therapy and release from his music anymore, but he's still incredibly talented. Especially when compared to other ACTUALLY overrated rappers like Dre (epic producer, shiatty rapper), Puffy/Diddy/Whatever (good businessman, bad rapper), or someone like Nelly/2 Chainz/LilWayne/Whoever is hot this month.

I don't really like Eminem anymore. I don't like Kanye, Jay-Z, OutKast, or Nas either. But that doesn't mean I can't admit they're damn good rappers.

I was forced to listen to a town hall type interview with him on Friday. It's weird. He seems like he can barely form a cognizant thought. Lots of "uhhh" and "yknow what i'm sayin", yet he writes all those crazy lyrics.

Obama's the same way. Not very good with spontaneity, but talented with a script.

I still don't like Eminem's voice or his delivery. I suppose some people might, though.

Look up Weird Al's "interview" with him. It's awesome.

Weird Al said that the rhyne scheme of "Lose Yourself" was so intricate that he couldn't follow it exactly and still make a parody that was any good.

Remember "Lose Yourself" winning the Academy Award for Best Song? Barbara Streisand looked like she was going to implode.

It was funnier the next year when Three 6 Mafia won. There wasn't a nominee in the house who didn't have a WTF? look on their face.

I think that was the Grammies. If I'm wrong then screw it. The award means nothing.

Eminem as a person is a bit of a jerk, but, (like everyone else is saying) he's a talented rapper. You can "hate the player, but respect the game they play if they do it well" so to speak.

It was an OSCAR, so yeah, it DOES kinda make a difference in the world of Movies/Music. Eminem is an asshole, but he's a TALENTED asshole, which is all that matters to the award people

No, I'm saying 3-6. Not eminem, who deserved it IMO.

Ever been back to your old neighborhood to find out that half the kids got screwed up on meth, and basically the other half had/have relationships with farked up meth heads?

Good times.

Yeah, I actually have to agree with you about 3-6 winning. The song was weak and only decent because Terrance Howard did it in the movie. 3-6 farked it up.

I don't listen to enough rap to know his full catalog that well, but I always thought the production on Shake That was pretty good.  That said, his latest single with Rihanna is kind of unremarkable.

So now  Fark recognizes rappers are talented? I wonder what is different about this rapper.  And where is all the "rap is not music" comments?
