Now that is what you call a family

Its nice to see it when people go that extra mile for their own kin.

Meanwhile, officers who heard the gun shots fired surrounded the home, Judice said. Upon entering, they found Thomas' lifeless body on the ground. He had sustained several gunshot wounds.  Thomas' cause of death is not known

I'd have to go with acute lead poisoning.

Sounds good to me. Hate that someone had to die, but better him that that woman.

Damn you and your pre-empting my joke.

I was gonna say: Compromised hull integrity resulting in catastrophic damage to internal systems and loss of control functions.

Yea, "only the home's roof was visible"? As if that somehow excuses the fact that they didn't search the building right next to where they found the car?

Well to be fair, the police thought it was a random roof floating in a bunch of trees.  There was no possible way they could have known a house was attached.  And it was far.  And hot.

It only gets better when they mention the need to find out what killed Scott Thomas, and how he was able to borrow an abandoned house.

Not to mention that the house was on the OTHER side of the road from where the car was parked.  They probably contained their search only to the one side of the road because there was no crosswalk and jaywalking is illegal.

This deserves the HERO tag!

Which one do you think is more heroic? A kid with some kind of disease receiving donations, or a family who saved a loved one from a kidnapping and most likely life threatening situation? I vote for the family.

I liked where the article says that "a confrontation ensued"--after the housebreaking and stabbing began. I guess they think about stabbing a little differently in Louisiana.

Overhead of possible location from Earth. Anderson road is near the center. There seems to be a possible abandoned house type area at the right side, just before Anderson ends at 724. There's a D'Areceneaux road just across 724 and down from the intersection of Anderson and 724.

Same here.  One definition of poison is the introduction into the body of enough of something to cause harm to the body.

Well, the police had the house surrounded immediately. I'd wager that if that wasn't the case, we'd never hear about this incident at all. Creole and Cajun folk are mighty insular.

Agreed.  I'd like to see the gun control crowd tell us why it was wrong for the woman's family to have guns with them that day.  Had they called 911 and waited for the cops, the creep would have killed her.

Gun control people have nothing against guns. They just want to keep guns out of the hands of stupid, dangerous people. I would use you two morons as examples, but describing you as "dangerous" would probably be too generous. Perhaps so would be "stupid."

Where are those gun control people, anyway? Surely this is just the sort of thread they would be interested in, by way of self-education if nothing else...

Note to all of you would be women beaters, don't beat on a woman who has a lot of brothers. They will find you and deal with you.

another thing. This sounds scarily like the police just though, "Another one of those people" and didn't give a fark, and the family had to go out and find there own justice. It is sad that this happens too much with a lot of police departments.

I'm in favor of gun control.

Near as I can tell, he controlled his gun with aplomb.

Seriously, the only person shot was the person that needed to be shot, and the person doing the shooting knew exactly who he was attempting to defend and the circumstances justifying it. If this was the way that all shootings involving a human target worked, there'd be no justifiable call for gun control.

Glad to hear this had a happy ending.  It's a damn good thing they were right......kicking in a door armed with guns ups the ante considerably.  Being wrong in that situation has consequences, just ask OJ.

Gun control people, e.g. the Brady Bunch, define stupid and dangerous people as "anyone who isn't law enforcement".  Their ultimate goal, and this is on record, is a total ban of the private ownership of all firearms, no exception.
