ongbok: Can't wait until the outrage starts because college kids discover these gelatin boats and start eating them by the handful to get drunk and end up in the emergency room for alcohol poisoning. You know it will happen.

No it won't.

They're $15 each. Everclear is $15 for a bottle that can kill three freshmen. College kids aren't made of money.

lordargent: doglover: I doubt that LED is edible,

The headline said the boats are edible, the LEDs are in the flower thingies.

That article is way longer than it needs to be, I'll summarize it succinctly here.

1) We made a gelatin "boat" with a lower density alcohol in it. When put in a drink, the lower density alcohol comes out of a hole and surface tension pulls the boat forward.

2) We made a "flower" that opens when you put it in the water and closes when you pull it out so that a drop of the liquid stays in the flower (which you can then put in your mouth).

// you're welcome

// also not paying $15 for $1 of alcohol

I'm a simple man with a simple dream of drinking enough of the non-toxic peroxide cocktail in a glowstick or some edible bio-luminous substance in sufficient quantity to produce my own light just once.

/or at least for a number 1.
