Translation: our plan to default failed, we just lost another election, Americans are signing up for health care, another war in the middle east was averted while disarming a nation, we've reopened the dialog to disarm another nation, the deficit is shrinking, more states are allowing gays to marry but the President is a total failure because of a Web site and universal background checks didn't pass

Really? Cause where I'm standing we're not at war with Syria right now, Obamacare is still fully funded and we're negotiating with Iran. What color is the National Journal's sky?

These are people that started screaming 'Failure' before the guy even took office. And they'll keep screaming it until they're blue in the face.

That said, BOB does seem to have a pretty good sophomore slump going, but nothing of the scale of Saint Reagan or Big Bill Clinton.

Republicans actively harm this nation... keeping them out of the White House is good for America even if nothing else is accomplished.

2013-11-09 12:40:01 PM
You guys just wait.

The Republicans are going to pass their job bill soon and show everyone how it's done.

And if you think that's awesome, just wait until you see the sane, freedom-and-liberty-promoting social policies on the docket. Which come right after they plan on ceasing all costly and senseless overseas military quagmires.

And a thriving and stable economy that will in no way have the ass fall out of it the moment they are out of office.... you guys just wait.

This Obama is just a failure, you'll see.

Obamas accomplishments have all been in spite of Republicans. This just serves to underscore the point that, even if he hasn't done as much as we all hoped, at least he's not one of those evil bastards.

The Republicans doubling down is going to help them win in 2016.

Obama's failures in the second term will mean doing nothing is better than doing something. Healthcare, immigration, and gay rights are better decided by the large corporations instead of the government. We need to bring Wall Street to Pennsylvania Avenue in 2016.

To summarize some of the article's criticisms:

Petraeus screwed some chick.
Newtown shooting happened.
Republicans are being assholes and refuse to work with him.
BENGHAZI!!!!
Obamacare rollout sucked.

The last point is certainly true, but is fixable. The rest of it is either A - derp, or B - shiat that happened which Obama has absolutely no control over.

Whatever the case, the author sounds awfully concerned.

It's almost as if the president doesn't have supreme power, and can be affected by an intentionally obstructionist House.

Hmm..

2013-11-09 01:05:26 PM
After eight years of Bush the country was in a bad way, with two costly wars and an economy in free fall. Since then the Republicans fight tooth and nail to obstruct any and every attempt to clean up that mess.

2013-11-09 01:14:06 PM
The only "mishap" is that the tiresome whining obstructionist right-wing is still ruling unscathed, and the media is loathe to kick them to the curb. It's more like sideshow freakery than journalism.

And yeah I'm looking at the butthurt in TFH. Not clicking on TFA, but I imagine it's the same.

The fact is we would overwhelmingly re-elect Obama if we had the chance. Another indefensible position that is also ignored with these stupid articles and series of threads.

Taking a stance does not have to be blind to reality or unable to see fault on "your side". this is of course impossible in an echo chamber circle jerk like this tab has become.

Actually, ACA is the first attempt in history to come up with a system geared towards eventually regulating the industry and will be regarded as a success in a historical sense years from now.

Whereas you're one of those who thinks Obama should be some kind of dictator who says "chop chop" and suddenly solves all your problems, aren't you?

Because the other side is batshiat insane.

He should have learned from history that the GOP was never going to negotiate in good faith. We may have gotten the ACA, but he will most likely never be able to push any of his domestic agenda again. He would have been far better off pushing for a much bigger jobs bill over healthcare reform. HCR is still needed, but it could have been a rider on said jobs bill that basically says "anyone can join Medicare".

/unemployment this high is still unacceptable, even if it is going down

Again, Obama is not a dictator. And his actions have allowed many of the clownish childish politically right-wing shenanigans to come to light. It's a valuable experience.

Really the problem is us for allowing selfish petty shiatheads like the key Republicans leading this series of obstructions to be elected and re-elected to office.

This is a test of apathy more than anything, and while it's costly, we're not going to solve things until we the people stop sitting on the sidelines and turning the keys over to our elected officials after we vote them in.
