It's awesome they are still around for the toast.  But IMHO that is something that should be done in private.  Not live streamed on the net.

Holy hell, what happened to scaling?  Or being able to drag corners to change image sizes?

I'm somewhat inclined to agree. It's a select brotherhood that shares their experience.

On the other hand, the Doolittle Raid was an incredibly dangerous mission conducted with an eye to the American public and raising morale for the war effort. In a sense, keeping the Doolittle Raiders in the public eye is an honor to their unique place in military history.

Either way, I'll raise a glass in their honor.

I agree fundamentally with what you both are saying, but it's the last one. only four of the original 80 are left, and only 3 of them can show up. the last one will be participating online,  not to mention they are pulling out all the stops and having a B-25 flyover. its a fine send off for these gentlemen and it's nice that we, the plebes can watch in from a far.

it's not like this event was mass advertised and turned into a mainstream, prime time media event.

Thats because its the VERY last one.  All four surviving members are expected to be dead within the year, unfortunately.

I'll toss my agreement in here with you two. But there's that part of me that is really grateful to them for allowing us to observe the last time this is done. It's incredibly sad to see this generation dwindling and groups like this having fewer and fewer members at their reunions.

Raising a glass with them over here too. It's no cognac, but oh well.

I go to watch and get to hear King talking about sequestration, forget that.  I'll just privately remember my Dad on 11/11 instead as he served his country in WWII just not as famously.

My great uncle was one of the raiders and survived the mission, but did not survive the war. He later went missing over Burma.

Was outside a while ago and saw five B-25's fly over in formation. Nothing in the world like the sound of so many WW2 radial engines. Farking awesome.

I got a bottle of Macallan 12 ready to raise.

/want to get back soon

Stabilize that camera focused on the podium, it's like the guy holding it already took a few too many sips of cognac.

/godspeed otherwise, gentlemen

Might be a factor in 75 years when someone's doing their Ken Burns documentary thing on WW2.

Iif we still have a civilization that cares in 75 years, of course.

They want to share their experience, and it is being spoiled by an open RF mic.

It's pretty amazing, isn't it?  When I get back again I want to make reservations to see the Air Force One exhibit.  I hear you can walk into them but they still have some areas inside cordoned off as classified.

True.  Nothing wrong with opposing views and outlooks.  No time for asshole or dickishness.

On topic, this is the most epic opening of Hennessy and pouring some out for the homies EVAR.
