There's nothing incorrect about that statement, Subby.

They've had a few good ones. Enjoyed Cool Runnings, The Rookie, and Miracle...and the computer wore tennis shoes.

I think TFA makes its case pretty well. It isn't an argument that will convince everyone, but it is convincing.

I prefer Air Bud 12. That's the one where he plays basketball against a team of dolphins.

Cool Runnings was a mighty fine little movie, to be sure.

But who can top the star studded extravaganza that was GUS, the kicking mule. It had Ed Asner, Don Knotts, Tom Bosley, Dick Van Patten PLUS Dick Butkis, Johnny Unitas, Dick Enberg, PLUS movie bad guy Richard Kiel in his prime and a soon to be murdered sex fiend Bob Crane.

And the plot--a field goal kicking mule who is 100S% accurate from 80 yards in? For the California Atoms? Sure, the special effects were lame but come on, it was 1976 for crying out loud. This is a movie that is just begging to be remade.

Yeah, that one kinda popped out at me, too. As much as I enjoyed Cool Runnings, I think I'll survive if we call it the second-best Disney sports film.

The writer did not mention my favorite dialog from the movie:

British Official: We must also be concerned about the potential for embarrassment.

Irv: Oh, pardon me. I didn't realize that four black guys in a bobsled could make you blush.

I'm going to put Cool Runnings above Remember the Titans for one simple reason: RtT has officially ruined Fire and Rain for me. I can't hear the song now, without thinking about the accident scene.

And CSB time: I saw the move in college with some friends. Credits roll and my one friend, who is about as stupid as stupid can be goes 'Man, it would've been cooler if that had been a true story.'

I saw Gus in the theater and so enjoyed it.  The best part about the old disney movies no matter how bad the script they always had a great cast.

But how can we forget "The World's Greatest Athlete"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDqyDJJ4n2o

Good point!  It's on the list but I didn't read through closely enough.  I enjoyed both movies....as an adult, I would agree that RtT is a better film.  If I were 8 though, I think I'd rather watch Cool Runnings.

Your friend had a point. "Based on a true story" is Hollywood-speak for "We totally made this shiat up, but we used real people's names to pretend it really happened."
