Zero tolerance.

So, how is that whole "zero-tolerance" thing working out?

Doing a lil headline baiting, eh subby? The teen walked into an elementary school with no visitors pass. Yeah i'd be concerned and lock it down too.

2013-11-08 07:57:58 PM
My 10th grade history teacher did this all the time. It was supposed to be a joke. She would point her hand like a gun at students and say (trying to spell this to reflect her southern accent), "Ahm gunnah keel ue." (I'm going to kill you.)

Boom(no pun)

Did anyone actually read the article? He was an adult in an elementary school that didn't belong. The headline makes it sound like a school kid in his own school. I was ready to be zero-tolerance outraged but, yeah, he sounds unbalanced.

well, there's Improv Everywhere's next idea if they need some publicity.  they should go do that on a college campus.

I would call an 18 year old a man instead of a "teen". I would also be very nervous if I was a female principal and he was in my school filled with children for no reason and he did what he did. He also didn't approach the principal, he was told to leave and then made the gesture.

Subby is a bad troll.

/Or a good one since I just waisted my time writing all of that...

Yeah, I'm not anti-gun or anything, but I this was the right call here. Even without the whole gun gesturing, that boy just isn't right, and I'd be pretty concerned.

Unidentified adult wandering an elementary school for no verifiable purpose has to be escorted off campus then makes what is frankly a threatening gesture to the principal is not reason for a partial lockdown?

2013-11-08 08:07:41 PM
An 18yo that gave off an impression of mental illness was walking around uncontrolled within a school.

And we are making jokes about the idea of a temporary lockdown?

Having now read TFA... yeah, this guy needs a visit to a local mental health facility to get a professional determination of "Yes, I need some good meds to chill the fark out".

Likely also armed.

RTFA, not an unreasonable response to "nut on the loose."

We should regulate these dangerous weapons to six fingers. Nobody needs more than six fingers.

This week we were on lockdown after someone reported seeing a "white male, dressed in black, with a holstered gun" on the sidewalk by the school.  It was a cop wearing a jacket that covered his badge.  We knew it wasn't a threat but still had to go under lockdown until we were released by the district.

2013-11-08 08:23:37 PM
Is that why hands are limited to five fingers?

felony harassment

In what universe do those two words go together? Back in the day, you had to be pretty hardcore to get a felony rap. Now they hand them out like those 'I Participated' awards. Really cheapens everything.

And, FTFA: "He was arrested, booked into county jail, and was expected to be charged with felony harassment, Snell said."

What? The terrorists have won. Not even a toy gun or a bar of soap carved to look like a gun, just a hand gesture and silly onomatopoeia. What's next, shooting clowns on sight?

Maybe he was slightly unbalanced, but so far we have no evidence that he harmed anybody or even threatened to; at most he made "joke" that in this day & age ain't very funny. He might deserve a talking to about his taste in "humor," but a felony charge? For crying out loud.

Clearly I'll have to stop smiling & waving at little kids in the checkout line ahead of me. Hell only knows what that could twisted into. "He was making gestures at my child!1!"

Before you know it the basis of the law will be "Everything that's not obligatory is forbidden." And I'll be laughing so hard I throw up at the society you people made, at least until they throw me in supermax for Felonious Chortling.

"That's NOT funny!"

P.S.

Ice cream counter person: "Crushed nuts?"

Customer with crutches: "No, cerebral palsy."

But hey, at least they said "Special."

After RTFA, I'll go with subby being a tard. The principal did the right thing and was right to be cautious.

Uh... we have evidence he threatened to because pointing your finger and mimicking a gun at someone you are displeased with is a threat. The charge may be overmuch, but there was a clear threat made.

The really important thing is that we teach our children to live in a state of perpetual terror, because we all know that it's only a matter of time before they're gunned down by a madman, or blown up by a terrorist, or they forget to sanitize their hands for the 40th time and die of some horrible disease. Be afraid, people. Be VERY afraid.

My biology teacher (and ass't principal) sophomore year used to say to misbehaving kids "go drink Drano."
