obvious tampering with the camera footage, body has been disturbed, nobody called the coroner for hours, obvious tampering with the physical evidence.....nope seems totally legit to me.

I bet a cop or important politician murdered the kid.  Who else would have the ability or the connections to get a cover up this outrageous?

So... we have a kid who got stuck upside down in a rolled up gym mat, which would lead to bleeding out of his ears, nose and probably eyes as blood pooled after he suffocated. The first coroner is upset because of the way things were handled - mostly nitpicking, including unzipping the already-bagged body to show the father. A picture of the gym mat is blurry.

Still, it's ruled accidental, and the victim is given a funeral. Apparently, the organs are missing... the first coroner disposed of the organs or the funeral home did, and instead of using quality, pricey solutions, somebody just stuffed the body with newspaper. His fingernails were clipped, presumably because the hands were visible during the showing (crossed over chest in repose) by the mortician.

The body was buried.

6 months later, the family has it dug back up and another autopsy performed. Not surprisingly, with a body prepared by a cheap (and perhaps less-than-honest) mortician, things aren't quite right.

Still, the second autopsy cannot find any evidence of murder.

Have I got this right?

hammer85: wxboy: killdawabbitt: I can't speak for the video, but camera footage is often grainy and out of focus. motion-sensitive cameras are often inadequately triggered on or off. I don't think this means anything, but an A/V expert would probably have something to say about this.

There have been 2 or 3 different video angles I've seen (on a local TV station).  Of those, the ONLY one which is grainy and out of focus is the one that would purportedly have had the best view.  That's a little shady.

Wasn't this in a gym?  Bet kids through basketballs and shiat at the camera all the time.

Unless you're arguing that they misfocused the camera specifically before committing murder, rather than just destroying the video afterwards if you have that kind of access.

/not a detective.

16 cameras and only one out of focus.

Time to start cross referencing students at the school and whether their parents are important politicians or police officers that handled the scene.

I would immediately look if the kid was dating the daughter of a white cop or politician.

It's Georgia and the deceased in this case was black. I'm surprised the sheriff hasn't charged the parents with murder just to make an example odd them.

Walker: Why is my son naked and stuffed full of newspaper? He didn't even like to read. I do appreciate you clipping his nails though.

Where are the clipped nails and did they turn up any DNA?

His position inside a rolled up floor mat that was rolled too tightly for him to escape indicates he was PUT there by someone.  That's felony territory.

jaytkay: Whatever happened in the "suicide" case where a woman was found dead, hanging in her wealthy boyfriend's house with her hands tied behind her back?

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Rebecca_Zahau  A second review by the Sheriffs office decided that it was perfectly plausible that she stripped down,  scrawled an odd note is different hand writing, bound her hands and feet to prevent 'changing her mind', then threw herself off the balcony hitting her head 4 times on the way down to hang herself.

Why is it that every time I see that Far Side frame, the only thing I can think is "why are the drapes made of skinned forearms and fingers?"

Oh, thank dog.  I thought it was just me.

Great, now I'm gonna have nightmares.

Seriously? That's how I felt when this story first hit Fark. In theory, the kid reached down into the mat to get his shoes (he apparently frequently hid his shoes around the gym), fell in, and then got wedged in, slowly dying, hearing other people come into the gymnasium and play basketball or whatever as he died, unable to say or do anything. Pure nightmare fuel.

Except the photo I've seen shows the sneakers resting next to his feet (as brigid_fitch mentioned), exactly as if someone took them off & dumped them there *after* his body was already wedged into the mat.

pute kisses like a man: Tman144: What? How do you turn a body over to a coroner without organs? Who took the organs out?!? Are we quoting the second coroner's report?

The article could have been more clear. Did the first coroner find an organ-less body? What gives. Maybe a timeline or chronological explanation of the investigation would be nice. Either way, accidental death by gym mat sounds suspicious.

As far as I know they didn't discover that the organs weren't there until the body was exhumed. I believe they were there during the autopsies. That part sounds like a funeral home farkup. There's obviously some sort of cover up going on.

I have to say, if there isn't anything weird going on here, the people involved are all just farking mongs.

Umm. No.

Organs can be removed and placed in plastic bags, but no one uses newspaper. No one.

I wish the coroner had better writing and grammatical acumen.  When he is spelling words like 'integrrety', it does take away from his credibility.

patrick767: So... he fell inside a rolled up gym mat? How the fark does that happen? Maybe he fell on a mat and it rolled itself up? Really?

Perhaps someone tossed his shoe into the rolled-up mat (standing vertically against the wall), and he went in after it and got stuck.  That's the most plausible explanation I can think of that would make his death an accident.

And the organs are farking missing.

The fingernails and the missing organs sounds more to me like the funeral home farking up. I mean at the minimum they would have noticed that the organs were missing and pointed it out or noted it somewhere.
