Who knew you could blame the GOP's failings on both parties.

subby too wimpy and passive aggressive to make anything but some cryptic headline that I assume is supposed to be insulting.

So vote Democrat

Oh, you did.

That's why US consumer sentiment...fell because...wait, what?

If people voted GOP, then they wouldn't have had to take the country hostage.

Lando Lincoln: Mitt Romney really would have turned things around for us.

Had Romney won, there would have been no government shutdown and no threat of failing to raise the debt ceiling, exactly like 2001-2008. This kind of stuff only happens when you people put a liberal in charge.

Don't like obstructionist politicians holding the economy hostage to a failed political ideology that all empirical evidence suggests exists only as a tool of the wealthy to increase their wealth at the expense of the working classes? Vote Democrat.

Feel like having the choice to control your own reproductive freedom, marry the person you love, or not live in fear that you'll be fired for taking birth control or being gay? Vote Democrat.

Want policy to be made after honest debate and based on evidence rather than religious belief or conspiracy theories? Vote Democrat.

Want sensible attempts at solutions to real-world issues instead of macho posturing and endless graft? Vote Democrat.

Quit trying to pin it on any one party.  This happens all the time.  It's simple partisanship.  It happened in the '90s and it happened this year.  There's really nothing similar about the situation at all. It's just the way politics is played.  Both sides are bad. I think you know how to vote.

I'd be happy to settle for simple acceptance that there is an objective "real world" that exists outside of your party's political fantasies.

Republicans turn into childish shiatbags who don't let anything get done when they're not in power, therefore America should vote for Republicans. Also, it's not their fault for how they react to being out of power. That's just what happens when Americans vote for the blah guy.

2013-11-08 12:12:58 PM
Well when you have 1% of the population that controls 90% of the wealth, you don't have a lot of consumers.  Your consumer based economy doesn't have a very big base.

surely a cut to the capital gains tax while increasing the tax burden on the poor would have really helped those lower income families.

Here comes the BSABSVR.  I seem to remember a certain Boehner deciding to not honor the deal he made and demanding more or his side would not vote to avoid a shutdown and pay for things they had already authorized.  I seem to remember a Bachmann telling everyone they got exactly what they wanted when it happened.  I'm pretty sure you have to be a mental gymnast or just willingly misinformed to believe that.

I'm torn.  I'd really like all the free handouts from the left, but I'd also like the international community to respect our authority and have a solid track record against terrorism.  Though the other week my email website wouldn't load, and I heard that's because of Obamacare, so I'm not voting for that jerk again.

Most people find fault with the Democrats. It's just that normal people don't immediately assume that the right-wing extremists that make up the major alternative are the solution.

But you know that.

Here's the problem with that.  One of those parties loves all of those policies.  The other at least claims it does not, and in 3 of the 4 actively promotes ending them.  Unfortunately, they do not have the political capital to do so because there are too many representatives and citizens who vote to keep them in place.

So yes, both sides aren't perfect and the Democrats are "bad", too.  But we've seen what happens when the Republicans are overwhelmingly in charge - those policies are enacted.  And when Democrats have more power they work to end them.  Even if their efforts are thwarted, all that means is that we need fewer representatives working to keep those policies in place.  So vote Democrat or Green, cause the Rs and Ls ain't gonna do shiat to repeal them.

I do generally vote Green. But the Democrats did support the NSA stuff, prison industrial complex and the torture still goes on, despite Obama "ending it" (if you really think we have other countries hold prisoners for any other reason, I have a bridge to sell you).
