This sounds like a job for the Dogs Of Peace.

Big Doggy Door will get their day of reckoning. How many toddlers have to die for a mistake?

Maybe it's just my dog; but, I'm pretty sure he'd greet thieves with the ol' helicopter butt routine.

/them promptly try to lick the person's face

humph! came for doglover leaving... something and so forth

One of my dogs would bite the person's face off. The other would stand back and bark until she peed.

/Luckily, I don't have a doggy door

The solution is quite simple, and it involves landmines.

My 210lbs mastiff is a big ol' pansy, full of slobber and loves
...but come in to the house uninvited
and the first sign of your impending doom is the vibration of the wood floor as he growls
it gets worse from there

(brutus just had an operation btw, stoner dog is like a wet noodle)

You can come in the doggy door, but I can't promise you anything one way or the other, You DO understand? As an added bonus, I don't bark so you won't know I'm here until you come in.

D'awwww... cute dog!

She really has a softer side.  She will be 9 in February.  She has never injured any children or other animals besides for raccoons and squirrels.

She is very territorial though and you'd better not get in her (fenced) yard or my house.

/Not a pitbull, just some scary-looking cur I got from Georgetown, KY humane society.  After all, intimidation is half the battle...

Most people think their dog would savage an intruder, but they'd be wrong.

No need to use the doggy door. I honestly NEVER lock my front door. Be sure to say hi to Banner. But, don't make him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

We had a white German Shepard when I was a kid and he scared a guy so bad who broke into our front door that he left all his burglar tools on the floor.

While doggie doors are a great idea in theory, allowing the dog and cats to poop outside as nature intended, in practice we've had neighbor cats come in an help themselves to food, raccoons come in and tear up 40lb bags of dog food, possum came in and wouldn't leave. Thankfully skunks have been in the back yard but have never come in.

Just the other day one of our cats lost the last inch of her tail to a hawk and came screaming in the doggie door. The tailbone of a cat is not much thicker than a pencil lead and $900 later she has a shorter tail. BTW, we live within the city limits of San Antonio and still we have a lot of wild life.

Thinking seriously about permanently closing the doggie door but the cats have pooped outside for their whole lives and hate the box.

White GSD's are great.  I have two of them.  Strong, and very intimidating to anybody who sets foot on the property.  Here's one of them (I was cutting down some trees and he decided this branch was now his 'fetching stick')

Beautiful Rotties! Question for JoelWhy and ReverendJynxed - are they smart? I've run into some rottweillers who are dumb as a bag of hammers, and I wondered if it was typical of the breed.

Yes, rotties are actually known for being pretty smart and easy to train. I grew up with a standard poodle who was smarter than my current rottie, but he's still pretty bright.
