EatsCrayons: lockers: There were also concerns that offerings are too modern for the elderly, containing items like mung beans or Oriental flavours.Really? That is a concern?Yes, yes it is. If you're flat on your ass because you've had a round of IV drugs, a zesty curry with Thai chillies may be too much for you to handle, particularly if you aren't used to it. When I had surgery it took a few days for me to graduate from plain, boring broth to plain boring mashed potatoes. Anything more flavorful just made me feel queasy. If a little, old man who starting to develop dementia has gotten used to tea, toast, peas, and a slice of ham for the last 10 years, putting a tofu stir-fry in front of him is confusing and unapettizing. They'll take a few bites then give up on it.
lockers: EatsCrayons: lockers:I highly doubt "oriental flavor" rises above soy sauce or sweet and sour. I have never had a hospital meal that graduated from bland.
EatsCrayons: mudpants: [upload.wikimedia.org image 850x613]You really want to give someting so stabby to a little, old lady who is in the early stages of dementia? My grandma used her hearing aids and dentures as projectile weapons. She had a grip of steel - if she got ahold of your hair, the only way to free yourself would be to cut your hair because she would not let go and would get slappy.Give her a spoon and a bowl of applesauce and she could feed herself, but she'd try to shiv you with the spoon when she was done.
