That's a real nice thing they're doing.

Geez, they couldn't give the guy an apron or anything?  C'mon!

(Also couldn't have hurt to maybe get one of those Sport Clips chicks to work on him?  Bow chika bow wow!)

Touch is such an essential human need, and one that many homeless people are also without.

Lovely video.  However, does anyone know what song is in the background? It sounds like Explosions, but I couldn't place it.

The National what?

Can't take the sadness out of those eyes, however. Hey here's an idea, how about giving the guy a living wage for risking his life to defend the interests of your corporate overlords? You know, instead of letting him live in the streets for decades?

Contrabulous Flabtraption: What's the National?

A band... they'll be huge in about 5 months.

Maybe he's just one of those folks who signed on for the benefits and found themselves actually having to do something?

"doing something"? Like what? Being a CEO? An accountant? Jobs that should be done by computers?

A nightly news program on the CBC in Canada.

But that's not important right now.

I think they already got popular then faded away.

Or they at least got plenty of airplay 2 years ago on local radio.

Before they sold out?

Seriously, nice that this guy got a chance to be lifted up. I have to see what this program does beside the shave and haircut for guys like this. I am all for giving a hand up to those in tough circumstances.

But, foil? Really?

The National... is kind of interesting.  Not exactly dad-rock... certainly "indie" but kind of grown-up hipster sounding.  Very WASPY subject matter.  Maybe like a not-as-intellectual Lambchop.  Not for those with short attention spans.

No.
To be perfectly honest, I did have one unpleasantly surprised specialist in late 1990.
She got over it.
Quickly.

Being snarky. I have met too many people that dislike a band once they are popular. They claim the band "sold out". I am happy for struggling musicians when they find success, happy for anyone who pays their dues and hits it big.

Damn, sorry. Should've realised you were following the snark train.

As you were.

Yep, they're pretty close to the big leagues. Great band, even if the vocalist does try a bit to hard to sound like Michael Gira (Swans).

They played the Rains of Castamere before the Lannisters sent their regards.

They have three pictures of him at the bottom. The last one is a great look for him. The corporate suit look doesn't suit him, but the polished rogue manly man model look does, and it suits him well.

I have to agree though he does kinda look like Ewan McGregor in that picture.

I agree.  That's the look of a man who works with his hands building stuff. For his okcupid profile, I would suggest "building playgrounds at orphanages through my nonprofit."  The women would go crazy.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear The National in Portal 2. That is all I really have to add to this.

That's Matt Berninger, lead singer for the National.

Or am I going to get a thatsthejoke.jpg?
