Ya know if I were the FBI and I'd just taken down a massive, online marketplace for the sale of drugs and guns, I might just be tempted to start the place back up myself with a few choice enhancements to the site courtesy of the NSA

In the aftermath of the Silk Road shutdown, alternative dark net marketplaces saw huge increases in traffic.

One, dubbed Project Black Flag, closed down shortly after launch, with the founder Metta Dread Pirate taking the Bitcoin currency accumulated on it with him.

He wrote on the site's forum: "I am sorry for my actions, but with the funds I gathered from the site, I will be able to keep myself from being homeless for the next several months".

Maybe it's just me, but ripping off a bunch of computer-savvy drug dealers, terrorists, arms merchants, and anarchists sounds kind of risky.

especially if all you gonna gain from it is eatin' money for a couple of months.  You want to rip of dangerous people? Steal big, VERY big or go home.   Ulbricht reportedly had a personal fortune of over $1 billion in bitcoins that the feds still haven;t found.   If I were hime I'd have had serious thought about liquidating all the BC on the site transferring them to hidden accounts, and then letting myself get "caught" by law enforcement and have them "seize" the site befor ethe theft could be discovered.   Be A mensch, do your 20 years with good behavior and leave prison rich beyond the dreams of avarice.

With $1 billion, I'd close down the site and move to small, non-extraditing Caribbean island.

Let the free market and societal norms reign. Some will do as they shall, as they should. Most will conform and life will go on. Let people consume what they want.

Twitter was buzzing with talk of whether the new site was a genuine replacement or a scam. Others asked how long it would take before it was closed down by the FBI.

It will be down before obama can get his 'health-care' site up.
