"Detroit"

Of course.

2013-11-07 12:50:23 PM
But its Detroit so it doesn't count.

I'll take black girl in the back of the head with a shotgun on the lawn for a repeat.

Here's how you tell: intruders are inside your house.

This is gonna be the juicy gun argument thread today I hope. Work is slow and I need the humor.

Shame if it was profiling by the homeowner and shot first, asked questions second.

2013-11-07 12:51:11 PM
Well, if all you have on you is a murder tool, then you'd be stupid not to use it. Suck it, libulardos, Second Amendment wins again.

2013-11-07 12:51:24 PM
How about "asshole murders someone"?  No unnecessary words, and the means of murder aren't focused on unnecessarily.

Also, this appears to happen a lot, even down to the same house, and the same woman getting shot!  :o

Rule number one of responsible gun ownership: do not leave witnesses.

Another one?

2013-11-07 12:52:10 PM
Gun nuts lack some crucial piece of mental circuitry that let them pragmatically assess threats.

Not sure if repeat or humanity being terrible again.

This feels like a repeat of yesterday's article which was not a repeat of the incident 2 months ago where something similar happened.

Obviously all guns should be banned because of those who use them irresponsibly, right?  That's the conclusion we're supposed to draw from yet another trolling headline, obviously.  Using the same logic, all motor vehciles should be banned based on the fact that there are those who use them irresponsiblly.

2013-11-07 12:52:44 PM
This article has even less facts that the last article posted to fark about this case. Thanks, CNN

2013-11-07 12:53:06 PM
Seriously, what is up with everyone shooting folks who knock on the door?  If that was the rule then no Jehovah Witnesses or Girl Scouts would be around.  Gun owners need to be responsible, not shoot happy idiots

2013-11-07 12:53:22 PM
People. They're just the worst.

yeah, didn't this just happen in NC with a guy who got in a car accident? Watch out Girl Scouts, you're next!

Or how about banning all abortion because one woman might use it as a form of birth control.

That should stir things up

Here is the whole of TFA:

(CNN) -- Police are investigating whether a 19-year-old Detroit woman who was shot and killed on the front porch of a home was simply looking for help after a car crash.

Relatives and friends held a vigil Wednesday for Renisha McBride, saying that's what led to her death in the overnight hours early Saturday.

"My niece didn't deserve to die like this. This is senseless," McBride's aunt Bernita Spinks told CNN affiliate WDIV. "... I just want justice for my niece, and peace."

Police, in a statement, said a woman was shot while on the porch. "The Dearborn Heights Police have identified the person who fired the shot and killed the woman," the statement said.

Although no further details were released, the case has sparked speculation that a nervous homeowner may have mistaken her for an intruder.

"A young lady as far as we know who was injured and seeking help should not end up dying on somebody's front porch," a man at the vigil said.

Family members met with the Wayne County prosecutor's office, which is reviewing the case, The Detroit News reported.

Spinks says she believes her niece was racially profiled by a homeowner in the mostly white neighborhood, the newspaper said. "You see a young black lady on your porch, and you shoot?" she said.

That's it. No other facts were included.

We now return the thread to the regularly scheduled speculation, flights of fancy, and other such tomfoolery.

OK people, remember this: if you are black and get an accident just stay with your car and die. If you approach any human to try and get help you will be shot dead. This should be taught in all schools. If you're white you can walk in a stranger's front door naked and make yourself some tea and you will be fine.

2013-11-07 12:54:49 PM
no doubt had the stranded motorist been white, the homeowner would have offered lemonade and cookies.

You're right, I can't think of any difference between guns and cars. We should also ban pools, amirite?

A) White shooter, because of course it is
B) What kind of GUN is it???!!! And did he use .22 or .2239LR?! This is what matters

Detroit, Wrong Neighborhood, and involving Blacks.
You know something is going to go wrong.

What You Say?
It was a White neighborhood?
and the Black girl was shot dead?
Oh, then Racism.

Who doesn't have a cell phone these days?   She got what she deserved.....

2013-11-07 12:56:50 PM
I thought we discussed this yesterday. We had a tiresome argument as to whether the shooter was white or black, but most of us decided that the guy should fry anyways.

And then we concluded said Fark discussion with punch and sugar cookies served.

2013-11-07 12:57:13 PM
So the facts are: woman was on front porch and was shot.

Maybe she was looking for help; maybe not.  Maybe she was shot by the homeowner; maybe not.  Maybe she was profiled; maybe not.

Call me when some facts emerge.

2013-11-07 12:57:13 PM
This story had 170 posts yesterday.

Tragedy...more likely than not criminal...that being said, let's get all the facts before we lynch the dude.

As Hagoss01 pointed out in the other thread:

"The rest of what has been said so far seems like speculation, including:
* That her phone was dead
* That she was asking for help
* That she had been involved in a car accident
* That she was shot in the back of the head

So why hasn't a reporter sought to answer these questions? Where is the wrecked car?"

Yeah I dunno, I'm thinkin the pros/cons analysis of banning guns vs. banning cars is gonna come up different.

Ban cars: no one can get anywhere like work, vacation, see family etc.  No big deal.
Ban guns: worldwide pandemonium, societal chaos, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

It was a glock or possibly an AK-47.

I want to hear the rest of this story.  I'm having a hard time picturing a 19 year old girl of any race not immediately jumping on her phone, instead of asking for help from strangers, in person.  Unless it was a phone accident, instead of a car accident, then it makes sense.

Everyone knows that Obama has been sending urban (wink) people to confiscate our Constitutionally Protected Firearms.

For all this upstanding citizen knew, she may have been an enemy of The People of The Gun.

I read on Drudge that the cops found soda and Halloween candy in her car.  All you need is soda, candy, and heroin to make Purple Candy Heroin.  She was probably on her way to do drugs and listen to rap music.

HotWingConspiracy: .  You're right, I can't think of any difference between guns and cars.

Both inanimate objects that result in death when used irresponsibly?  Blame the people, not the guns,,, unles you're libruhl, then blame guns for everything.  Even abortions.  Wait no, you like dead babies.. maybe guns are to blame for 'not enough abortions'?  I'm sure you can find a way to make it work..

So to summarize, some dead things are good, but other dead things are bad, but the only good dead things are the ones that are innocent and haven't been born yet, we can all feel good about those things being dead.

Tragic, but for the record it was suburban Detroit, not Detroit.

I'm normally against comparisons when dealing with gun issues, as they don't lend themselves well to the debate. Cars are indeed the worst offender of this. But pools are seriously the closest you can get to guns in terms of "deaths (especially child ones) caused by tool which is a recreational device." I know pools serve the purpose of providing a hobby and exercise, but you can say the same about guns. The only difference is that a gun is, at the end of the day, a tool designed to kill.

But seriously, every time someone brings up the toll on child life and won't listen to any other argument, I say we should pan the private ownership of pools. The government has public pools for you to use, they're clean and well-kept, and they're staffed by trained lifeguards. Or we could do what my parents did: Explain that pools are a dangerous recreational activity that should always be done in the supervision of an adult. They watched me until I became a proficient swimmer myself. Did the same with guns. Instilled a strong sense of responsibility and understanding before I was ever even allowed to touch one. Common sense is an oft overlooked solution.

Wonder how many people were shot trying to get help  from a car accident in 1971?  I'm guessing all of them.

She was shot

I'm pretty sure the facts show she was shot by an angry car.

One designed to be transportation. The other designed specifically to be lethal.

Not sure why so many people are afraid to admit this.
