Being drunk and high is the only way to make the Twitter IPO look sensible.

I noticed this recently with my grandfather. Older people often sound drunk or high.

And I can't believe anyone wouldn't.

Even though they don't make a profit, they make up for it in volume.

They're losing money by the fistful.  Their gross revenue is $500 million.  The markets are valuing them at 60 times annual revenue.

That is simply delusional.

My opinion of Sir Patrick Stewart is diminished by this.  Its still extremely high, but not as high as it was before.

Twitter is like verbally talking to your computer core to command the starship. It's a funny, silly idea that seems impressive in the context of great technological advancement.

Modern voice commands are mostly stupid.  They're limited to immediate simple commands that would be just as easy (if not more so) to do manually. Such as my car's wonderful voice activated music commands.

What happens:
1. you press a button
2. it dings to let you know it's ready for a command
3. you say "music"
4. it asks you "did you mean phone?"
5. you say "no"
6. it asks you to repeat yourself
7. you say "music"
8. it asks "did you mean music?"
9. You say "yes"
10. It starts playing music

OR you can:

1. Push radio button

Notice the reason that the voice commands on Star Trek still seem really impressive are that, besides being a magic plot device that always interpreted the correct intention of the crew, the commands themselves were usually requesting or inputting complex data or commands that would in reality take a while to set up. Such as "Computer, cross reference these designs with all others discovered in the Chintakan dig."  Or, "Computer, cross reference these basis pairs of DNA between the last known transporter records and this sample."

Notice: one command is all it takes for something that in reality has like 50 steps to accomplish.

As a plot device, it was largely to vocalize (and thus inform the audience) of what the crew was doing on the computer. Even when doing simple things like 'lights'. A brilliant TV trope if there ever was one.
