555-FILK: Soup4Bonnie: Country music hasn't been country since Hank Williams.  It's pop-lite for idiots.  Not surprising to see Swift on top of the retard pile.

I'm sorry, but Taylor Swift is a twit and makes me stabby.  It's just something about her that irks me.

She's the Gwyneth Paltrow of music.

Zac Brown Band kicked ass. Brad Paisley kicked ass (running through the crowd while playing lead). It was a good awards show as such things go. Lots of good feeling in the room. If you don't like country music why would you even care about their awards?
As for Taylor Swift, she's killing it in her target demographic and pulling in new listeners and growing the country music audience. She fills stadiums, and that's a fact. As a writer she's just going to get better with experience and time. If you expect her to melt down or disappear I think you might have a long wait ahead of you.

Vince Gill and Alison Krauss singing BACKUP for Taylor Swift last night is the ultimate expression of everything that's wrong in country music

MFAWG: Dave Grohl smashing it up with Zac Brown made up for that foolishness. Nothing can make up for Hunter Hayes.

i can completely understand the hunter hayes hate...he sings pop songs with a seizure-like look on his face. however, i gained a TON of respect for him after his interview on "song travels" with michael feinstein. hunter wrote, sang, and played EVERYTHING (30+ instruments) on his debut cd. i somewhat like the songs he's had as hits, but that really made me appreciate what went into them. no songwriting and production team...hunter and a producer (and i'm sure a recording studio staff and such) and a few months of hanging out in the studio.

zac brown is one of my alltime favorites, though, and having grohl up there with him was much fun!

My daughter is 16, Taydolf Switler's prime demographic. She used to love everything she did. After last night she said she no longer likes the alien looking weirdo. I'd say her careeer arc is on the far side of the peak

LoneWolf343: TrainingWheelsNeeded: I can appreciate Taylor Swift for her artistry, just find it funny she is "country". I always thought of her as a Avril Lavigne 2.0.

You appreciate the "artistry" of someone who produces shallow melodramatic songs that unironically compare relationships to Romeo and Juliet?

your perceptions of her music aside, she writes and arranges her own music, that's gotta count for something. Plus, she's barely twenty something and seems to have genuine interest in practicing her craft. i've only heard a few of her songs but of the ones I have heard they are well organized and executed - that's not easy.

luidprand: Rigger1955: This is a big deal!!, she is honored to receive a made up award.

As opposed to what other type of award?

Oh, I don't know, lets say the Victoria Cross, Medal Of Honor, Purple Heart, etc....
You know, awards that someone has to actually do something to get.

Sybarite: a prize only awarded once before to Country legend Garth Brooks

And that says pretty much all you need to know about it.

Yes, exactly, artists that cross lines, break boundaries and bring in new fans who discover other country acts should be shunned.  It's the only way to ensure growth within the industry.

Burn the witch!

/Niece listens to George Strait now because she did the George Strait All Star Concert
//Realize that even George Strait is "country" enough for Fark
