I hate knowing that Baylor will rip our defense that is thin with injuries.

/I expected 3-4 losses this year
//anything less is better than I expected.

As a whiny OSU fan allow me to say that Oregon and Stanford are both given undue validity in the rankings, and the PAC 12 is as equally crappy as the Big 10. Oregon's legitimacy outside their own conference can only be traced to a single win over a pretty mediocre Tennessee team.

Then you look at Stanford with a loss to an unranked Utah. Compare with Michigan St which also has a single loss to a ranked team and finds themselves well out of the top ten. Injustice I say!

But it's not the problem with the rankings.  It's the fact that preseason rankings are half based on what people think of the schools' reputations.  (Yes, my favorite team is probably the poster children for it, but still.)

I feel like I haven't adequately alerted people to the jaw-dropping lunacy of Indiana games this season, and for that I apologize and would like to make amends immediately. Indiana games feature 79.8 points per game between the two teams, which is what happens when you have a great offense and a stunningly inept defense. Here are some Indiana scores, all from this season: 73-35 (W), 41-35 (L), 63-47 (L). 42-39 (L). The Hoosiers scored 28 points on Missouri and Michigan State, both the most either team has given up this season. Now Illinois comes to town, and while Illinois hasn't won a Big Ten game in years, it's totally capable of getting into a bazooka fight with the Hoosiers. Seriously, this one could get fun. #CHAOSTEAM forever.

It used to be Speed Channel but Fox decided they weren't making enough money off of it so they made it into an ESPN clone.

They probably will since Ohio state is on a bye, but Ohio State will jump them after beating up on Illinois and Indiana, they should go into Michigan weekend #3 behind Alabama and FSU provided Alabama beats LSU this weekend.  Nov 30 will be interesting as Stanford, Alabama, FSU and Ohio State all have unpredictable rivalry games.

Oregon has been the bastion of PAC-12 style play. They're quick offense with high scoring games. Stanford, it seems, has invested something that hasn't been heard of in the PAC - Defense- and it is destroying Oregon. It happened when Oregon played in the NGC a few years ago. They were crushed by an actual defense.

/PAC 12 is like watching a different sport

Stanford just kinda owns Oregon. One of the things I hate about them - they ruin other top Pac teams' chances to win titles and then always sh*t the bed against a mediocre team so they can't do anything themselves. How the hell do you lose to f*cking UTAH?

A game that was a two-point game until halfway through the fourth. And Oregon fumbled it through the end zone on a drive. And their kicker missed his first FG in months. And Oregon couldn't pass - they didn't have much of a problem running.

And really, the problem was that the opposing offense controlled the game and kept Oregon's offense off the field. Same as this game.

Stanford has had the same thing for a few years now, not just defense but ball control offense with quick strike capability. The easiest way to beat an offense is to keep them on the sidelines, eventually they will find a way to beat a defense but let desperation set in and things fall apart.

You better hope FSU gets in there since thats OSU's only shot at winning a NCG and once it goes to a playoff Oscar Meyer's play weak go get in won't work.

hughesrep: IAmRight: hughesrep: Ohio state did it in 2007 (?) too.

Same as this game.

my overwhelming impression on that game, admittedly as a buckeyes fan, was they just got beat up. Stanford has done it twice, Alabama once...

Does Phil make tough shoes?

Yeah people like him making excuses dont get it, playing a different style than they are used to gets them out of their element. When they run ball control it screws up their game plans.

2013-11-07 11:23:36 PM
lol @ announcers trying to say Oregon isn't done. Dude, you might be able to score, but your defense is incapable of stopping them. They don't even have to try to throw the ball. Oregon is done. Hell, Oregon's probably only going to get one more drive in this game.

They've actually gotten into the red zone on three of six drives. So they've been able to move the ball.

The problem is that they've scored zero points on those drives.

Yeah, dude, no one else tries to run ball control!

This just in, when people are able to do that WELL and the Oregon offense turns the ball over a lot, they have problems winning. That's something that's true no matter what kind of football you play, and has little to do with "overpowering" or any other idiotic "it boils down to them wanting it more"-type crap.

He just doesn't get it, auburn wasnt that good of a team when an average Oregon lost in the NC and Oregon isn't that good now, a decent ball control team beats these teams every time.

Two turnovers is not a lot, but the entire game they have been getting manhandled, that last series was the only time they looked ok and it appears Stanford dropped into softer coverages. Let's hope they didn't pull a Richt and start playing soft too soon.

That team should have lost two of its last regular season games, if not for cheap shots by fairly they would have lost. Dont rewrite history like they were some dominant team that year, they came close to losing 3 times that year.

But then he will rewrite this game to scream OU only lost by 6, it was a close game!!!!! But reality is that it should have been a blowout without a couple miscues by Stanford when they had executed perfectly the entire game.

I'm a fan of both Oregon and FSU. Oregon's record in that regard is pretty spectacular, but FSU has lost more in NC situations than it's won.

2013-11-08 10:25:30 AM

MayoSlather: As a whiny OSU fan allow me to say that Oregon and Stanford are both given undue validity in the rankings, and the PAC 12 is as equally crappy as the Big 10.

Then you look at the rest of MSU's schedule and go "good god, they drew the weakest possible schedule in an already weak Big Ten" while Stanford beat UCLA (who thunderstomped Nebraska in Lincoln in the second half of that game) and a few other pretty solid teams, in addition to Oregon.  MSU has won a home game against Michigan and the next best win is... @Iowa?  Indiana?  Speaking of Indiana...

meyerkev: I feel like I haven't adequately alerted people to the jaw-dropping lunacy of Indiana games this season, and for that I apologize and would like to make amends immediately.

Yup, Indiana has a top 10 offense paired with a hilariously bad defense.  Anyone can score on them.  But they can score on anyone.

Take a deep breath FSU fans. The road to the National Title travels through the SEC. You still have a game IN Gainesville, and while the Gators have been lackluster this year, they could have and should have beaten Miami. They hung with LSU at LSU. They simply did not show up against Mizzou, and stupid penalties kept them from coming back against Georgia.

UF/FSU is a huge rivalry game. The Gators defense, despite injuries, is still pretty good. The heat is on Muschamp, so he will be bringing out all the stops. It will be a lot closer than people think. If the Gators make more of an effort to throw the ball downfield in the next couple of game, and show they can move the ball better, I'm going with the upset come November 30.

I would agree except their one quality win is against Clemson who's lone quality win was against Georgia and we see how overrated they were. I dont see FSU coming within 20 points of bama and it really pisses me off.

No, Richt almost Richt'd another game away, they should have been up by 35+ in the first half but him not wanting to embarrass anyone and start playing soft has lost him more than one game.

Still it wouldn't shock me one bit if FSU loses because they haven't played anyone remotely decent.

stupiddream: Rent Party: The Muthaship: stupiddream: I'd put FSU up against any team in the Country right now and, yes, that includes Alabama.

I agree.  Unlike Oregon, FSU doesn't have a long and storied history of stepping on their dick in big games.

/wait a tick.....

Oregon's record in that regard is pretty spectacular, but FSU has lost more in NC situations than it's won.

Oregon has 0 NC.
FSU has 2 NC.
Your argument is invalid.

Your argument is, and I quote:  "FSU doesn't have a long and storied history of stepping on their dick in big games. "

FSU is 2-3 in NC games, making you completely wrong.

That was my post, and is was sarcastic.

They have an amazing history of absolutely stomping on their dicks in big games.  It is in no way limited to NC games, either.

FSU has lost about as many as they've won, when it comes to big games. To insinuate that they always trip in big games would be folly.

I agree.  Obviously, they've won some big ones, too.  But damn, they've dropped a ton!

steamingpile: I would agree except their one quality win is against Clemson who's lone quality win was against Georgia and we see how overrated they were. I dont see FSU coming within 20 points of bama and it really pisses me off.

Dude, that's some first rate trolling right there. Alabama's one quality win is against A+M so who the fark have they played? Arkansas? Kentucky? Tennessee? Those aren't anything to brag about if you ask me. The only other team they'll play that is half way decent is LSU and they suck this year as well.

I wouldn't call any of the cupcakes Alabama has played world beaters. Beating up on the Kentucky's and Arkansas's don't impress anybody.

Honestly, I think you're just pissed because we pawned Mark Richt off on you and we got Jimbo Fisher. Who could blame you.

The sad part is you think jimbo is a good coach, bama will stomp a mud hole in FSU and even though as a UGA fan we have to deal with their bullshiat, it will almost be worth it to see semenhole fans get crushed in the stands.

Bitterness? Or knowing that up until about halfway through last year FSU fans were wondering if they made a bad hire? Its easy to look good beating up on shiatty teams which the ACC is stocked with so let's not brag about winning the conference.

Yeah saw one student being led into the tunnel by some of CA's finest.  I'm guessing they weren't going to get pizza.  Fun game, fun game.

Standard homer argument. But the good news, you sorry Georgia fan, is that it looks like the two best teams in the nation will square off in the NC game to settle the argument.

Jimbo is a good coach. At least as good as anything sitting in the SEC right now(the exception being Saben who is Jimbo's mentor)

FSU is a better SEC team than almost every other actual SEC team playing in that conference. They are built in an SEC mold but with better talent than most. it's funny watching you try an pretend otherwise. Not to mention you sound scared with all that you're spewing around. A little worried that an ACC team will show up an SEC team huh? Having to make excuses afterward will suck for you homers I'm sure.

ongbok: Considering the fact that Stanford just put themselves in position for getting trucked by Alabama in the NC game.

Nah, they would've if they hadn't sh*t themselves in Utah. I would've been happy for Stanford if they had a chance to play in the championship game. And hell, I'll be cool with it if Alabama and Auburn end up with two losses and OSU and FSU lose and Stanford has a chance for a title. But that's not likely to happen.

/and yes, it will take Alabama losing twice to keep them out of the NC game

Schedule a road game with Northwestern. I don't think I've run into any bad apples there. Of course, their fans are also almost always outnumbered by fans of the road team when it comes to B1G conference games.  The bad apples on a Northwestern trip are usually the guys trying to run a scam game on the Red Line train headed up there from the city.

Yeah just like last year right? Or will the game be months before and the NC game just be another blow out party for the SEC school that gets there?

Sorry FSU is average and the ACC makes them look great.

No they aren't, they are a weaker looking pac12 team with lesser talent on offense.

I find it funny that you think we care about showing them up, it seems nobody pays attention in fark threads when we laughed at bama and then Florida for losing sugar bowl games.

Nobody laughs harder at sec teams than sec opponents.

Sorry even the wife would not allow a Bobo jersey in the house but I'm sure your left fist allows it.
