Oh well, they don't stop as long as you follow.

Not really feeling Harriet Potter and the X-Men.

This is one of the very few shows that I have no snark for.

Very enjoyable, fresh, and creative.

They're going to have a rough time topping this season.

This news is good and you should feel good!

The first few episodes this season was like I was watching your average "Charmed" episode.  The last two it's picked up a lot.

I did enjoy the chainsaw last night

2013-11-07 06:30:56 AM
If the trend of giving one of the actors in the show an Emmy continues, it's going to be a toss-up as to who gets it (though I thought it would be Kathy Bates five minutes into the first episode).

Wife and I love this show! Season 1 was great, was kinda "meh" about season 2 (how many horror tropes can you shove into one season?) but season 3 has been really good.

2013-11-07 07:11:19 AM
I also like the show.

2013-11-07 07:14:44 AM
I'd love to see an AHS series about the circus.  So much potential...

Clowns, freak shows, creepy ringmasters, weird animals, carnies, etc.

Sarah Paulson seems to play the "Shiat Happens To" character.

maelstrom0370: was kinda "meh" about season 2 (how many horror tropes can you shove into one season?)

this season has definitely benefitted from a more streamlined story. The middle of season 2 was great, but the beginning and ends were kind of crap.

Well it's still chock full of horror tropes, that's almost the point of the show. Last night had a chainsaw-wielding zombie-killing teenage girl, fer chrissake.

Love it all the more for that.

Given the quartet of older women they have is made up of some of the finest TV actors there are, if it wasn't good then Ryan Murphy should be executed.

I really enjoy the show. It seems to have better focus this season than last, when there were entirely too many story lines running at once.

The first season is still my favorite, although the current season shows a good deal of promise.

Also, I'm calling it now. Witchy swamp chick is the new Supreme.

I think that's what they want you to think: "Oh, Zoe's so obvious, it must be swamp witch!"

I'm hoping the curveball is that it's Kathy Bates - it'll be the best way to take her "Awww.... this monster is actually nice!" storyline - she suddenly blossoms, gains all the powers, and switches right back into hag mode, with some sort of black holocaust of the Voodoo folk..

She cannot possibly have a redemption arc.

To be fair, it's still some of the best horror that's been on TV since Outer Limits

that would be interesting, though it kind of ignores the idea that a Supreme comes once a generation and that Kathy Bates' character isn't an actual witch.

Is the director afraid to tell the actress with Down Syndrome to stop smiling? Dragging the neighbor guy to safety while being chased by zombies? Yep, that's a smiling. Upset because she can no longer hear Madison's thoughts and realizing that she's dead? Smiling.

She is actually capable of doing a scene without smiling:

She's from a different generation.... a generation that we have no idea if a supreme emerged.

And she may be a witch, and her gift is immortality, and we've just presumed it was voodoo that kept her alive - or she has an entirely different power and knows perfectly well, we just haven't been told. The strongest pointer is her blood-face painting in the first episode, an exact mirror of the panic of the modern-day supreme over aging when the new supreme was emerging.

I wonder if she'll be smiling when they film the clearly signposted sex-with-neighbour that's approaching.

though I guess it's possible, that comes off as pretty bad writing to me. The rest of your point is rather interesting, though I guess I should point out that her attempts at witchcraft didn't seem too successful at all.

It's pretty obvious the new supreme is Zoe, with what voodoo Angela Bassett said last night. I'm dying to find out more about Sarah Paulson 's murderous philandering husband.

Do we actually know how the power structure works? There have been hints at "other covens" - maybe individual covens have their own supremes, rather than it being an over-arching position. Why else is she berated by the council for not aiding this tiny group of 4 women, when that would be only a sliver of the witch world?

That was my take as well, that there are a varied bunch of individual groups each with their own top dog and each vying for possible power and influence.

meh, that's the least interesting storyline to me. It's like they just NEEDED a serial killer again for some reason. I guess Sarah got the shining now so she knows what he's been up to, so I hope she just kills him soon and gets that over with.

And of course it's obvious the new Supreme is Zoe, which if you watch this show means it will be anyone but.

This. I love the show. Last season was a little all over the place but I loved season one and I'm loving season three so far. Kathy Bates can do no wrong in terms of acting as well as Jessica Lange.

Kathy Bates sobbing while watching Obama give his acceptance speech was the best moment ever

+1.  Season 2....the aliens...WTF?  It wasn't even necessary to the show.  Season 1 kicked ass

I love how people get hung up on the aliens in a season that featured a Nazi mad scientist and his pet creations falling in love with a nun possessed by Satan.

But ... aliens? That's just too much.

The aliens were explained by the writers after Season 2 ended.  Not sure what else there is to comprehend.

I think it was more than the Aliens subplot just didn't go anywhere; ditto the Zombies(?) out in the woods. Season 2 just had way too much going on to fully work.

Yeah, that was the big issue with season 2.  Though I'm still not sure what they were going for there.  Was everything that was recounted hugely exaggerated as part of the book?  Either way, meh.

I was kinda worried last week when they introduced a serial killer and zombies again, though at least the zombies make sense because voodoo.  Serial killer seems unnecessary though.  Haven't watched last night's episode yet.

I figure the serial killer is hunting witches and not so much a serial killer as a member of the inquisition.
