What about the first unfortunate man to stick his head in a golf ball dimpler in space?

Her stuff is damn catchy. I like it. But then again, my general musical tastes can be best described as "stupid statement dance mix".

She's rather talented, much more so than quite a few other female pop stars (Ke$ha, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, etc.).  I can totally get, though, why people don't like her music.

Not just space, outer space! A whole 0.1 planetary radii up!!!

My God, we live in exciting times! She could just sing in a 747 and get it over with.

Did you guys think space would just be a commercial dumping ground for has-beens and stunts?

Better than being completely ignored by the public at large, which it largely has been for the last 30 years.

That's no golf ball dimpler.

I miss the euphoric days when I thought Lady Gaga would be the worst thing to ever happen to music.

Then Nicki Minaj showed up.

Now I kind of like Lady Gaga.

New, she's all about gimmicks and self promotion, she's a bonified Pop star, not a Pop Tartlet. she actually has staying power via talent and tenacity.

she'll be around a while.

Cindy Lauper is still around and people have been bored with her since the early 90s. Your point?

Actually, the more I hear about her, the more I like her as a person/celebrity. Not big on pop-y music, but she actually seems like a pretty cool person with an actual message. People just can't get past the theatrics, but it's been a thing with music since Screamin' Jay Hawkins at least, carried through Arthur Brown, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, KISS and Marilyn Manson, just to name a few. Gaga's not the first one to do this, but that's all people seem to notice.

You know how Mattel releases two versions of their Holiday Barbie: 1 black & 1 white?  Gaga & Minaj seem to be music's version of that.

Look a little deeper & you'll find that she can talk the talk, but walking the walk is another story.

cindy lauper just won a tony, to go with her emmy and grammy, so i'm not sure thats completely fair to her.

"She has to do a month of vocal training because of the atmosphere," says a source...

Um, you can make the atmospheric mix whatever you want. Sorry, try again. She isn't actually stepping out into space to sing.

I agree, but zero gravity isn't the same as "the atmosphere". I can guarantee you she has to train for that, but not "the atmosphere"... Just pointing out that the "source" quoted is kind of dumb.

Yeah, boring old talented, versatile, entertaining, generous, Cyndi Lauper.

Every performer should be so boring.

Cindy Lauper is still around in the sense that she still breathes and shares with us a terrestrial plane. I love the woman and her music to death, but lets face it.. that profesional ship has passed.

My Point? well, If I may borrow your example and try to transpose, lets say that Lady GaGa is Madonna, and Cindy Lauper is Ke$ha

Madonna was able to use her talents, persona, and flair to extend her career well past the point i would have fizzled out for many of her contemporaries, and Cindy had a few decent hits, but was not able to extend her self past that initial public reaction of the bawdy girl.

and really, we've all been sick of Madonnas shiat since the early 2000's
