I lived in Salzburg for a time. It's like living in an actual fairy tale. It's indescribably beautiful.

Oakland's actually got a lot of cool stuff. That would, of course, be germane to this conversation had Oakland actually appeared in submitter's linked article.

Nidiot: StopLurkListen: SirEattonHogg: Oakland?  Was that supposed to be funny?  I don't get it.

Oakland fans (guilty) show up in these threads saying stuff like "It's the new Brooklyn" (OK I've never said that, but whatev)

Really? Must be a hipster thing, because I've never heard of it. Headline just seems to be a totally random falsehood.

Shrug. I don't really care, I don't know Brooklyn.

Although, interesting historical footnote/coincidence: Early maps did label parts of modern Oakland "Brooklyn."  Though it has nothing to do with why people are comparing the two now.

BigNumber12: Mr_Fabulous: Prague

I was sad to see that Prague wasn't included, though that would have reeeeally concentrated that list in one relatively small area of the world. Moreso than it already was, anyway.

They went with Budapest, which is the dirtier, cheaper, still doesn't have their shait together 20 years later version of Prague. Crappier beer, better sausages. The ladies are a toss up.

Despite my sister's recommendation against, my wife and I really want to see Switzerland. Did you only see Zurich? General Switzerland thoughts? We came farking cloooose to being able to cross over to see some of it this last trip, but simply ran out of time.

Invincible Sky Lizard: My favorite on that list is Salzburg.  If any beer lovers go there, check out the Augustiner Bräu Kloster Mülln (since 1621!).  Good beer, great atmosphere, lots of fun.

Here's a link to their site:  http://www.augustinerbier.at/
