What I learned from that movie was that within the space of a few hundred years, a human being can evolve gills and flippers.

And that in those few hundred years there will never be a technological advancement that surpasses the jet ski & harpoon combination.

Think again, Submitter. That just means we'll switch to a Mississippi tag in the next 5,000 years.

and there will be a bit of a technological halt, because a filter bottle can built to turn human piss into potable water, but obviously it won't desalinate ocean water...  But the bad guys are all crazy like Dennis Hopper...

To be fair, humans already have webbed appendages. The gills, yeah, that's just ridiculous.

At least National Geographic knows who their audience is.

I wonder if they're just assuming all the meltwater would go to the ocean, rather than, say, some of it forming new lakes or becoming groundwater.

It wouldn't be the first time.

Repeat. Also, what is this whole If thing. Isn't the question really when? It happens rather cyclically...

It's a little bitty place

Yeah, like anyone needs to worry about this.

At least I move an hour closer to the beach.  Makes it a little more feasible as a day trip.

Make it so.

I live in one of the slivers of Florida that won't be underwater.  Hello, beachfront property.

HotIgneous Intruder: Yeah, like anyone needs to worry about this.

You need to worry more about your (insert various household object here) trying to kill you.

Terrible taste in scripts and poor direction evolves even quicker.

THANKS, DARWIN.

Ghostery says 18, here.  On par with Fark's 15-22, depending on which ads* load.

*Yeah, I know, "ads, what's that?"

So, Florida ends up being a post-apocalyptic swampland, complete with a tribe of people in Orlando worshiping Disney characters. All hail Mickey, bringer of the great flame!

Note, that would make for an awsome Fallout game.

Global warming is fake!
Because the Democrats just can't be right!
Because if they were right about this then it might mean they were right about other things!
Screw you zero-bama!

And also within a few hundred years everyone will be *very* dirty, despite the fact that there is no dirt.

2013-11-06 12:46:06 PM
The New Age folks have been all over this for a *long* time....way before global warming was even a known term.  Although their reasoning behind the map ranged from seismic upheaval to alien intervention.
