Doc Batarang: I always thought Thor was utterly unfilmable. All the Kirby costumes, the Shakespeare lingo, most of the villains, the doofy secret identity, the boring love interests and the rainbow bridge would all make it highly improbable that any of it would translate enough for the wider audience to care.
I think we should all give Thor a round of applause, it actually all works.

Really, it is due to the success of Thor that Marvel is looking at all it's properties and going "Y'know, this could all work. Nothing is farfetched anymore." Hence why they're going for it all with Guardians of the Galaxy.

And which gave us this hilarious tweet:

verbaltoxin: ZeroCorpse: I bet the person who wrote TFA doesn't even know that Volstagg the Voluminous (who is far too small in the movie, and who should have been played by BRIAN BLESSED) was based on the Shakespearean character Falstaff, either.

Okay folks do we want Brian Blessed as Odin or Volstagg? He can't be both.

YES HE CAN! HE CAN BE ALL THE CHARACTERS, AND THEN shiat ATOP A GREAT MOUNTAIN!

fusillade762: miss diminutive: Do they plan to explain how he can catch a massive hammer travelling at ridiculous speeds without having to absorb the impact? Because I'm not seeing that travesty unless they do.

/it's a farking movie

And if the hammer is so heavy why didn't it fall through the floor when he dropped it on the helicarrier in The Avengers?

It's not heavy, it actually never, ever moves. The magic of the hammer is that when a righteous person holds it, the universe moves around the hammer; not the other way around. If you're not righteous, you don't have the power to move the entire universe as you see fit.

Aquapope: When the "Hercules" TV show was on, a friend of mine got pissed at something and said "Nuh uh, that's not the way it really happened."  I still give him shiat for that 15 years later.

How can you make something up about something that's made up and be incorrect?

I will say, if they include the time Thor lost his hammer, and had to dress up as a bride to win it back, while Loki came dressed as a bridesmaid, I would see that movie.
