The Kansas City charter school's board of directors put Superintendent Vonnelle Middleton and five other employees on leave after the state review team's visit in early October.

Cutler said Laquanda Carpenter, principal of the school's Bennington campus, is serving as interim superintendent.

Last year UMKC declined to renew the charter at Derrick Thomas Academy, another low-performing charter, because of issues of mismanagement. That school closed.

I simply have no idea what to make of  any of this.  None.

"That means better than 99 percent of its students were in school 90 percent of the time," said Sarah Potter

Phyllis Chase, director of the UMKC Charter School Center, said that when she heard the state's findings, "I was shocked and saddened."

"This was news to the board," said Dana Cutler, attorney for Hope Academy.

FTFA: State officials decided to visit the school after the school reported a 99.5 percent attendance rate."That means better than 99 percent of its students were in school 90 percent of the time," said Sarah Potter, spokeswoman for the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.I hope this educator doesn't teach math. It doesn't mean that at all. It means on average (of 636 kids) only 3 kids were missing any given day, which is much more significant than her 99%, 90% of the time.

Would somebody please hurry up and tell me if there's any possible way I can blame this on corrupt Republican officials and hypocritical Republican voters??

(But seriously, aren't they the ones who want to "secede" from public schools rather than fund them properly? OR is that a bipartisan phenomenon designed to grab some votes in local elections?)

State officials also said they learned that a school employee had taken $700 from a student in exchange for granting that student academic credit toward graduation. The money was later returned to the student.

And the school employee was fired.....when?

Put two and two together, and you presumably have white and black people "working" together to make sure they get paid while students aren't getting shiat.

At least, that's how I read it.  I could be wrong, there might be an Asian or a Jew in there somewhere.  Definitely no Indians, possibly no Irish unless there's a shop program at the school to make whiskey barrels.  And I think we can rule out any Intuits.

Do you know who the Derrick Thomas Academy was named after? Or why? Or is it just the color of his skin that irks you?

My cousin's name is Derrick, he is as white as they come and is in his 50s, pretty respectable guy with a good career behind him.

Tell me, can you tell the color of skin of the following people? (Key at the bottom, don't cheat now, just take some guesses and see how you do.)
Jeffrey, Mark, Lorraine, Dorinda, Kali, Margie, Liriel, Susan, Doreen, Michael, Krystal, Janice, Jazmine, Asha, Amy.

I am willing to bet that you guess wrong on the ones you think you know best. Of course, that gives a couple away, but not all.

In case you wonder, at least one of the names that you didn't highlight belongs to a non-white woman.

Key: white, black, black, white, white, asian, white, black, white, hispanic, white, white, white, white, asian.
