Gee, wonder why the GOP is having such a hard time reaching out to women voters these days? I can't imagine why.

2013-11-05 03:02:17 PM
He's absolutely right.  The countries where women have curtailed rights -- or no rights at all -- are paradisaical.

Your Dad.  He failed to marry you off at thirteen.

So, if a woman is widowed how does he expect her to support herself? Go on welfare, giving him even more ammo against women?

This isn't the 1950s Mr Semas, no matter how much you wish it was.

He means middle class to rich women. I come from a long line of poor women who worked, no matter what the decade.

What's wrong with kids building bombs? When I was a boy I had fun duct taping a bunch of fire crackers together, putting them in a tin can, sealing it up, and lighting the fuse. It's good old American ingenuity, that's what it is... Hold on, someone's at my door... Oh, hi Mr. Homeland Security Agent what are you doi-*WACK*.

2013-11-05 05:53:01 PM
He has a point, though he probably doesn't know it...

The demise of the traditional family single employed parent has more to do with the demise of the traditional family structure that the Christ-O-Fascists love to harp on about....than any Feminist, minority or LGBT demand for equal treatment under the law

It's a shame the Christ-O-Fascists blindly support the oligarch's who are most responsible for the demise of the single employed parent household.....

Oh, hey, we sold the shipyard for scrap, so fark you Camden...

^^That's where the traditional American family went^^

When I was a kid, my pediatrician had one piece of advice for me.  "One day you're going to build things to blow up.  When you do, don't put them in a closed container".  Solemn words that have no doubt saved me an eye or limb.

Other women? If they all quit their jobs there would be plenty of options for you.

What is it with conservatives that think there is a magical job fairy with a limited amount of job creating dust?

I guess it just goes with their supply sider nonsense "send everyone's money to rich people and they will shower people with jobs". The idea that jobs are created by demand, and therefore employment grows when more people work (immigrant, women, or whatever) because they have more money to spend is at odds with their plans to maximize income inequality - leading to far too much money in the hands of people that invest all that extra money (and create massive investment bubbles ), and not enough in the hands of the people that will buy stuff with the vast majority of their income.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
The demise of the traditional family has led to a decrease in domestic violence.  A woman without a paycheck is a very vulnerable woman.

Lemen ass.

According to dictionary.com, lemen means mistress. Or, I found lots of pictures of lemmings captioned (in either Finnish or Swedish, I think?) as lemen.

My wife would love to stay home with the kids. However, one of the two major political parties in this country has spent last several decades undermining unions, worker protections, the minimum wage, etc., resulting in depressed wages that have failed to keep up with inflation and have forced more and more mothers into the workforce just to make ends meet. I don't remember which party it was.

Technically, he's correct. Women have been trained to accept lower salaries for the same job, in our society. If you've got two people with the same qualifications, and one of them will cost you less, who would you hire?

plushpuppy: He means middle class to rich women. I come from a long line of poor women who worked, no matter what the decade.

It's always been acceptable for women to work, but they used to know their place. Poor woman were supposed to be school teachers, librarians, secretaries, waitresses, nannies, and things like that. They weren't supposed to start thinking they are all equal to men and start taking OUR jobs.Get out of the office and back into the kitchen where you belong! If you're not taking care of children or the infirm or serving a man, you're not where you are supposed to be. Figure it out, "ladies"! And for God's sake, lose a little weight, and it wouldn't kill you to put on a skirt and some makeup, either.

Yep, I come from a farming family and the women always worked on the farm and generally had other jobs in town.  Of course we were tenant farmers, not the nice middle-class farmer.  Poor and working class women have always had to work, even if it was bringing work home.

It's weird how Republicans find the perfect family unit as Mom stays at home while Dad works.

Yet, the family unit can't make enough money unless Mom works, too. And, Mom, is often underpaid.

And, then, there are women holding state and federal offices as Republicans.

Boggles the mind, I tell ya.

FTFA: "There are a lot of social conditions, a lot of social changes, that have occurred in the last 50 years and they parallel women leaving their home occupations as mothers and homemakers and entering the workforce," he said.

You know what else parallels women leaving the home to enter the workforce? The stagnation of wages that made it so that a single income was no longer sufficient to support a family.
