Mexican Coke sales to spike right up until they do, at which point they will disappear from reality.

Most Mexican coke is HFCS now.

It's only the glass bottles with the import labels that explicitly mention cane sugar use cane sugar.

The import labels are paper labels stuck on the bottle. At a mexican market most of the coke products in plastic bottles use HFCS and don't pay the surcharge for cane sugar importation.

Yup.  It's not the contents in the bottles that's different in Mexico, it's just the labeling laws.  If you want cola sweetened with real sugar you have to get something like the store brand at Whole Foods.

Here comes the Fark fat brigade. Mexican Coke, Kosher Coke, Dublin Dr.Pepper amd some soda I've never heard of. Yea yea, we get it. They taste sooo much better and you have a basement stocked with 20 cases. It's freakin soda.

I'll probably buy a case and keep it in the garage. Mexicoke in the glass bottles is the only soda I drink, but it's maybe one every couple of weeks.

At the local Mexican Market, you can get plastic bottles of Coke. Which on the label it has HFCS.
I might not have made myself clear; not ALL Mexican coke has cane sugar; quite a bit of it uses HFCS.

Due to US import laws (Which can only import X tons of cane sugar products)...a Import label for the Mexican Bottlers is affixed to the bottle of cane sugar Mexican Coke products.

At least my very small mexican market....the plastic bottle Cokes list HFCS. While the higher priced glass bottle Mexican Coke has a US import label stuck to the side and list Cane sugar.

The plastic bottles, which are Spanish language, don't have those labels and list HFCS.

In other words; just being a Mexican Coke product doesn't mean it's cane sugar.

(one week's worth of groceries, Mexican family)

It's a lot of sugar or corn syrup.

//Go ahead, joke about all the Coke, but the American family's groceries are damn frightening. At least the Mexicans have a lot of fruits n veggies to go with their Coke)

Throwback Pepsi with real pure cane sugar. Coke is missing a lot of sales.

Try this, do a blind (double blind would be even better) taste test between regular Pepsi and Pepsi Throwback and let your taste buds decide.

/I know which one my taste buds chose
//wasn't even close

Sheesh people, just add cane sugar to your Coke when you bring it home.  Then you can be certain it has cane sugar in it.  Does no one seem to know how to get a hold of the stuff around here?

It may not be called "Dublin," but I have 4 six packs of sugary Dr. Pepper in glass bottles that I bought at Costco last week.

I haven't seen any Coke throwback anywhere. Are they manufacturing that?

There's no such thing as Coke throwback. Pepsi and Mountain Dew, yes. Coke, no.

From the wiki: In a rare move of no competition within the Cola Wars, Coca-Cola formed no plans, as of early December 2012, to release a sugar-sweetened version of Coca-Cola on a regular basis.

This. I gave up diet soda just because all that aspartame can't be good for me, and switched to regular soda, and much prefer Throwback Pepsi or Throwback Mt Dew to anything else I've tried. I was never a Pepsi product buyer up until that point.

If they sold a throwback Coke, I'd buy all kinds of that.

One thing getting off of the diet soda has done for me is I don't drink nearly as much soda per day as I used to, so even though I'm getting calories from the non-diet that I wouldn't from the diet, drinking less carbonated liquid with a pH of 3 has helped the frequent heartburn I used to get.

I guess I could start going to Juarez (it's only about 40 minutes away) and buying the good stuff up, but I don't think so, because I like being alive. The Mexican groceries here in town can't keep the stuff on the shelves.

Not a big deal.  Passover Coke is still available in the United States, often for the same price as regular HFCS Coke.  Just grab a few dozen bottles, store in a cool dark place and enjoy your horde for the next few months.

Or if you're really hardcore, get a 5 gallon keg, a large bottle of CO2 and make your own Coke using one of the legacy recipes on the Net.

To fight the obesity epidemic they institute a policy that will cause drinks to switch to corn syrup, something that may possibly encourage obesity.

Lots of people say there's no difference in taste, from the bubbling on the pour to the way it ices when really cold, I can tell a difference.

Maybe we should drop our import limits on cane sugar so that companies can switch back to sugar... or we can keep the corn lobby happy and keep putting HFCS in everything.

whatever

oh yes I can, HFCS sweetened coke is NASTY compared to cane sugar sweetened. Completely different mouthfeel, heavy, syrupy taste.
