God was looking out for him!

God was the one that got him drunk and chucked him in the river. God was trying to kill him!

Since I'm too cheap to e-subscribe to the P&C, did it say from where he swam?  It isn't that bad from the marina off Clements Ferry.  But if he swam across the Cooper River itself... wow.

I'm more interested in the last activity highlighted at the oyster fest featured in the top corner.

No, but I did make a hasty search for the 8 ball.

Don't need a repeat of that experience.

Picture this....

You are 17.  You wake up to the grating sound of a kid with a little plastic shovel and bucket and people pointing and laughing.  It is daytime and you are on a beach next to a somewhat chunky yet great gal.  Naked but you have beach towels over you.  Don't quite remember how we got there other than singing along to "Radar Love" 20 miles away and 12 hours before.  But I sure remember leaving.  Enjoy responsibly people.

He does not remember where he got in. I figure the closest point is the end of the Mount Pleasant pier and that has to be a half mile.

I used some mapping tools I have at work and it's closer to 3/4 of a mile. Not bad in a shark infested harbor.

Well, if he came straight from MtP, sure.  Something tells me, though, that some other stops were made before things got all watery.  No way did he swim up-river for hours unwittingly.

Lucky to be alive.  He was probably more disoriented from the hypothermia setting in than the alcohol when they reached him.

The establishment mentioned in the article is about two miles away...was he practicing for a triatholon?

I think you may have a point there. I can see wandering off from Taco Boy after a Tequila or twenty and swimming out from that side.
