Yes, sad.

Even sadder is that BottomFeed might just be the worst site on the Internet, and Fark is all the worse for linking to it all the time.

So is Flanders now a serial wife-killer for Jesus?

Stupid Flanders.

That was a nice touch.  Wonder if they did the same for Phil Hartman.

Very sad about her passing, but has her character done anything in a while? Granted I haven't watched it in a few seasons, but it seemed like they forgot that the kids were in school because very few episodes even showed them there anymore. Same with Homer working at the nuclear plant.

I seem to remember they simply used a title card during the end credits, as well as a "Best of Troy McClure" page in a Simpsons episode guide.

He got an end of episode remembrance. Considering Ms. K. would be the one making Bart write on the chalkboard in the first place, this is a fitting tribute.

I think she got married to Ned Flanders.

Which means Ned lost two wives.

Indeedily doodily.

The scary part is that they actually worked as a couple. She even got Homer to return all the stuff he borrowed from Flanders.

Very sad for her passing and the loss of her character however it seems very fitting that god tests Flanders the most.

Wait, what?  How the hell did that happen?  And what happened to Skinner?

We got the episode where Edna smacks Bart upside the head and gets sent to teacher detention last night (I think it's the one where she first falls for Flanders?) , not "Bart The Lover" before the new episode.

And the rumor they were going to kill off a character. Perhaps they found out about Wallace's condition and planned on killing off Edna.

It would suck that Ned loses two wives. Maybe they will just leave Edna as a background character with no lines.

They've already confirmed that the character being killed off wasn't going to be her, that this was just a coincidence, and I don't think they're going to keep her as a background character after opening up a show by saying goodbye to her.

Let me take a stab at it.

Because it's funny.

I know, hipster pop culture law requires you to say the show's quality began declining after Season ???, or Conan O'Brien was the true genius, or something. Your cred is shot if you don't. But it's still topically funny and worth a look.

Sorry for my unworthiness.

I was watching last nights episodes to see how they would pay tribute.  I missed the chaulk board scene but caught the "ha!" at the end of the "regrets" episode.

We felt strange for mourning a cartoon character's death.  Sad to see her go. (The real person)

one of the show runners said this is not related and there are still plans to kill off the planned character.  They didn't say how they were going to explain Edna's absence, but they are going to retire the character.

I'll admit, the room got a little dusty with the opening chalkboard tribute, especially when I saw Bart's expression as he wrote that single tribute. It was perfect.

As for why the show is still on, it's gotten A LOT better in the past few years, right around the time it went to HD. They've really upped their game, and there's been quite a few episodes that made me laugh out loud - the book heist episode being a personal favorite of mine.

Have to agree, the last few years they've stepped up their game and this years TreeHouse Horror was honestly the first one in quite some time that I actually enjoyed watching.

I have a hard time giving someone like you credibility if you think that sack of crap is "great". It's an unholy commune between Family Guy and The Simpsons, an given that both sows are on the same station, I don't know how you can like one without the other 2.
