Partial solar eclipses happen fairly often but people can't see them because of the sun's glare.

Sacrifice 11 slaves, duh. No deities ever complained about too much sacrifices.

I know. It's like when you're playing the Kra'hen in Imperium Galactica II, and the God-Emperor demands sacrifices, and you have a choice how many people to sacrifice: you should always choose the highest number.

shouldn't that be "unsure if they should sacrifice 6 or half a dozen"?

Was wondering WTF was going on with the sun when the F1 World Feed was focused on it Sunday.  I was all, "Is there a building in the way?  No...  A hill?  No, it looks clear to the horizon.  WTF?"

Dubai had a really neat view.

Listen, I love the enthusiasm, really I do. It's just that if we sacrifice all the slaves whose going to pick the crops, feed the llamas and sweep the blood off the temple steps? The whole point of owning slaves is you know to avoid having to do actual work. So dial it back there a bit Sparky

That's why I only look for them  at night.

"My kids thought it was really cool. They are really into Minecraft -- a video game where you watch the sun rise and set -- and showing them a real life version of that was great," he said.

Things have gone terribly wrong.

Duh, they're slaves. You capture them to sacrifice. Nobody goes to all the trouble of a long-ocean voyage just to get domestic slaves. That's what women are for.

There is a game where you watch the sun rise and set. Next, there will be a game where you drive an empty bus over a two lane highway between LA and Vegas in real time.

This is why we need a god-king to make the big decisions and guide our organization. How else are we going to determine the correct working slave to sacrificial slave ratio? Sure we could leave it up to the priestly caste but they're just in it for themselves. We need a leader who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty deep inside the chest cavity of a screaming victim.

I don't think the Maya do that any more. Hell, even when they did, they weren't nearly as bloodthirsty (or common) with it.

The Aztec, on the other hand....

I had a great view of it driving to the ship for duty. Too bad I didn't have time to stop and get some pictures. :(

You'd have to bribe people to play that.  Maybe once a year or three in some charity event.

I was thinking the same thing.  Either there's an eclipse I didn't know about or a really, really perfectly round mountain obscured by haze.

I don't know about anything else, but it did cure my brain cloud.

I'm betting at least a few people today finally learned that the sun and moon can be in the sky at the same time. Not kidding.
