A drunk driving instructor? Kids today. In my day, we had to learn that by ourselves.

No idea what TFA is about, but if I had to teach teenagers how to drive, I'd be drunk all the goddamn time.

Try to think of it more as a coach, to help you with the finer points of drunk driving.

So this is where all the DC Cabbies come from? This explains a lot.

"he's only had six drinks in the last 10 months because of his prior problems."

Yeah, but if those six drinks in the last 10 months were ALSO all in the last hour, then we've got a problem.

I had my car totaled in September by a guy who has been in 7 accidents...this calender year. Great job of vetting your customers, ALLSTATE. I guess anybody is a good risk as long as they can pay the premium.

I don't know about other states, but you get get more than a few moving violations (too many points) in CA in one year and the DMV threatens to take your DL.

How could your cronic collision guy have a DL, let alone insurance?

We had to learn everything out on the mean streets of suburbia, dammit.

I'm not saying this is the case but I know someone who was rear-ended (at stop lights) three times in one month.  The first time was in his car.  The second was in the rental while his car was being fixed.  The third was in a replacement rental car.  None of them were his fault.

Did he have to wear a kidney belt, do stretches with a towel, and save the world from alien invaders afterwards?

The .08 BAC level is neither accurate nor fair.
Some people are hammered at .08 and some are basically sober.
You should be able to get a Drunk Driving License where you take a driving test WHILE INTOXICATED and then do the breath test if you pass the driving test.
If you pass the test at .12 then you should be able to drive at up to .12.
If you fail the test at .04 then you should NOT be able to drive at .04.
This is not rocket surgery!

You'd prefer to be hit by a guy without insurance?

I'll see your 4x drunk driving instructor and raise you a drunk driving cop responding late to a crime.

Well, I'm being a dolt and making the claim that in the perfect world, this guy would not have been insured and thus, would not have been able to operate a motor vehicle. Of course, you and I know that he would have still driven his car into me.

My hunter's education teacher (class mandatory for everyone born after x date to get hunting license) had previously been in TWO hunting accidents....as the shooter.

Then, as he was trying to demonstrate the proper way to cross a fence with a firearm, he accidentally put a 20 gauge shell into a 12 gauge shotgun.  It slid down the barrel and got lodged so he started slamming the butt of the gun on the ground to get the stuck shell out.
