(Providence Journal)   Police get a two-for-one arrest when a bank employee admits to embezzlement during an investigation into an unrelated robbery. The armed robber was later caught when her child snitched on her to police because she 'looked scary in her mask'   (providencejournal.com) divider line 20

Rating out mom cause she "looks scary"? Enjoy the foster care system, brat. I'm sure there's no one scary in there.

I wonder how long the cops were questioning her to get her to "confess". Or did she actually just say it randomly?

We are having a nice dinner with 4 other couples, everyone looks happy and having a great time. All of us leaving on vacation to the Bahamas the next morning together.

Conversation turns to infidelity (one of the women talking about her ex and the extents to which he went to cheat) everyone is laughing about until it all of the sudden out of no where, the youngest in the group (19 married to my buddy who was 35 at the time) screams:
"I CHEATED WITH YOU BROTHER! IM SO SORRY" and storms out.

/his brother was 20 and in amazing shape...but unlike my friend, penniless and utterly without prospects.
// got a divorced and the brother got put in the street to rot...
/// the brother she cheated with got mad enough to hit her and go to jail when she told him she confessed later that night.
//// to this day no one understands why she confessed to a drunken one night slip after they both agreed it didnt mean anything and never to mention it again. We understand even less wht she did it in the middle of an expensive restaurant the day before leaving on vacation planned a year in advance.
//rest of us still went to the bahamas

Bizarrely, blowing up at dinner is the best decision the 19 yr old ever made, apparently. Saved your buddy from investing years and kids with her at the very least and let her work through her demons instead of dragging him (and the potential kids) down with her.

Though I bet that was a couples place they were going to, so dude was the third wheel for a whole vacation. I hope he was aware enough of how to get laid while surrounded by married people. Couple resorts always attract a certain subset, always in the minority but always there if you know what to look for.

I feel the story is missing something. Did the 3 year old call 911 to report the scariness of his mommy? Or did the police interview random toddlers for potential leads?

Does the former bank employee have Turrets or something?

Don't forget, snitches get stitches and end up in ditches.

WTF?  I get an annoying pop-up window overlaying the news story, and when I close it, the news story goes away.

I remember when some browsers were able to block pop-ups.  Another lost technology.

I worked in banking for seven years, including some time working in cash management for our branch vault and ATM and I can assure you that her spontaneous confession wasn't due to a guilty conscience.  Rather it's pretty much standard operating procedure to do a total audit of all assets in a branch after a robbery.  If the audit had happened, her embezzlement would have been discovered almost as quickly.

Her "confession" ("They made me to give them all that money!") was a last ditch maneuver to avoid prosecution.

Eh a 35 year old man that wants to marry a 19 year old woman is probably no peach himself...

I had friends who worked at "The Beer Store" in Canada When the sums in the cash register grew large, they would hide a lot of it in a bag in a planter. Why? Because "The Beer Stores" in Canada tend to get robbed a lot and carry a fark ton of cash ... being the only place to legally buy beer in Ontario.  They were thinking that if they were robbed, then the robber can get what's in the till and the entire amount would be blamed on the robber and the employees would get something for their efforts.

This woman was basically handed a "get out of jail free + $434k bonus" and decided to tear it up and go for "Felony and 30 years prison time" instead. Wow.

I used to work at a bank and know it wouldn't be all that hard to clean the place out. Sadly, no branch I know of has enough cash on hand to make it worth the consequences.

Everyone has their price. Mine involves enough to buy my own island and enough air defenses to discourage forced extradition.

the short version: it can't be taught. I know of at least two situations from my honeymoon where my wife was the only one in the group who didn't know what the vibe was. I got us out of those pretty quickly, that's not her bag, and it reminded me that I see things in ways that she doesn't.

She is/was a hot 19 "biker"... he is a 35 year old, fit, owner of a bike dealership (and weekend biker himself).  Seemed like a good match...  But yeah plenty of 'told you so' all around.  Age differences matter.
