Strumpets, the lot of them.  No self-respecting Korean would sell out to release Japanese albums.
S.E.S.  forever!

Girls' Generation? Ugh.

They're just an AKB48 wanabe.

Now Kara, they know sexy K-Pop.

Also if they really did beat off Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber in their video, it would be super double platinum.

While massively popular in Asia, the reaction to its win from the American audience was muted -- with scattered applause, but mostly a long, deafening silence.

that cracks me up.  the people in the audience must have figured that if something isn't popular in america, it must not be that popular anywhere else either.  cause american pop culture is so great, you know?

Is is common for the K-Pop to have the English phrases? Not heard a lot of it so don't know if they have always been like that or if it might be an effort to expand to the US?

Silly Submitter.  That 'beat off joke' doesn't completely work.  One of those 2 people is a girl!

/guess which one

It's been common in both J-Pop and K-Pop for awhile now and as far as I know isn't necessarily an effort to expand to the US, rather just to inject some "cool" English slang for the kiddos.

It's 'murca or nothin'.

/comments FTFA are a reminder that either 'murcans are re-re's, or trolls are just threadshiatters now
//also, not all Americans are 'murcans.

Or it could be
(i)Girls' Generation may be unknown to an American audience... The group might be likened to an Asian version of Spice Girls(/i)
But go ahead and be indignant about it

Well I'm assuming that's views, not votes. Still it's youtube, so I guess it's safe enough to say it was voted on by 12 year old girls.

What annoyed me about these awards was that "YouTube Artist of the Year" nominees only included like two people/groups which actually used YouTube as part of getting big. The rest are just standard recording artists who went through traditional channels.
