There's just no good reason for a college that can't get into the BCS cartel to have a college football program anymore.  It's just going to be a total waste of resources and a money sink.

/happy that my alma mater got rid of football a long time ago

My alma mater is still jerking itself off over div ii titles from the 80s and 90s

And they just bankrupted the school to pay for a brand new stadium and athletic building. Now they spam my inbox begging for alumni donations

Go Carson Newman... dipshiats..

It was crazy to see students from Georgia State University protesting the high cost of education right after they voted to increased their student fees by hundreds each year to support a football team. Now another school across town, Kennesaw State, is doing the same thing. But they all have visions in their heads of being the next BCS power with all the fame and fortune that comes with it. Instead it's just going to be a drag on the finances of the schools and their students who will get to see their teams be homecoming cupcakes for the BCS powers. I feel sorry for the students at Southern Polytechnic, which is being absorbed by KSU and now will have to pay student fees for a football team they didn't even have a chance to vote against.

When I looked at taking an evening class at GSU I was surprised to see I would have to pay a significant amount for their football program even though I have no interest in attending the games. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has decided against enrolling for a class because of this. Coursera and many other online resources are free. I wasn't looking for a degree, I already have two of those, I was looking for knowledge. Too bad the schools are looking for ESPN glory rather than providing education.
