So this guy is driving at speed on an LA highway, and yet somehow he managed to open the passenger door and kick his girlfriend out.

I'm going with that she's a farking loon and was trying to commit suicide.

Knowing many latina women post birth, I'd reckon there's little chance this plumper was "pushed".  They treble in size.

You'd think it'd be hard as hell to physically push someone out of a moving car while you're driving and they'd (presumably) have a seat belt on. I'm putting my money on the whole 'psycho biatch trying to get back at her man' thingy.

If he was smart he'd go with the suicide defense. He'd still be a farking monster for leaving the scene and not getting help for her and the kid immediately, though. In fact, had he done so with the claim of, "She told me if I broke up with her she'd kill herself and the baby," he'd probably be seen as a hero for providing help to the child.

2013-11-03 09:26:43 AM
The article is kind of ambiguous...was the baby his child, or just the girlfriend's child?

Only Maury Povich knows for sure.

Its pretty clear she jumped from the vehicle.  Why she jumped.... is anybodies guess.  Most likely she went psycho and didnt think her actions through.  The fact the baby fell out with her implies that she took the child out of its car seat first, so she jumped out intentionally.

Based on the literal language of the hit and run law, this may not be a hit and run. He gave his vital statistics to everybody he hit (i.e. nobody). Courts sometimes expand such laws beyond their literal language.

Santa Ana isn't LA like Bellevue isn't Seattle. Yes, maybe technically that's true, but when painting a picture for people who don't know about the area it's just as good and gets the point across.

Why does it matter if she jumped? The guy drove away and left her and his daughter laying on the street.

And while it seems difficult to push someone out of a car, we don't know how big this guy was or how small she was or anything. He coulda opened her door and swerved while pushing her, which flung her out. It wouldn't be the first time someone has pushed someone else out of a car while it's moving.

While driving? How? Does he have some kind of eject button like James Bond or something? Maybe he is 8 feet tall. Or he has telekinetic abilities. I bet that's it.

BF GF drama...GF throws herself out of the car...sure I can see it. I've known drama queens that if I heard they did that I wouldn't exactly be shocked.

With her kid? No. Yes women commit suicide with their kids more frequently than we'd like to know. But alone, and planned. Not leaping out of a car in the heat of the moment. I can't even think of a mention where a woman killed herself and her kid in a spur of the moment leap. (I'm sure it's happened, just saying...pretty rare)

Plus the guy doesn't stop and doesn't report it. Even if you buy there's some reason he didn't stop, you don't report it? You don't call 9-1-1? Or your mom screaming 'OH MY farkING GAWD...' so she can biatchslap you and call 9-1-1?

Newp.

Plus for all we know given the extensive injuries she had before she died, he could have been beating the shiat out of her while driving, or stabbing her, or threatening her with a gun, or any number of things that would make fleeing a moving car with your 13 month old daughter seem a safer alternative.

IDK not enough information but what a farking sad story regardless. Glad the kid will be okay it seems. Well, as okay as she's gonna get. :x

Exactly.  Why was the kid in her arms?  The only logical explanation is that she intentionally jumped... otherwise the child would be in its car seat.  What, the guy, while driving, unbuckled the child, put it on the moms lap, and then pushed them both out?

It's not uncommon in that area for people to not wear seatbelts and for mothers to be holding their children on their laps because there's no car seat in the car. It's Santa Ana. So her being unbelted and holding her kid in the front seat would not be at all unusual.

Gergesa: I am going to guess that she jumped rather than was pushed.  It would be pretty damned hard if you were the driver to push someone out of the car.

DSB: Way back in the old days (1989) I was out on a first date with a *very* attractive but also *very* deaf young woman. At the time I drove a 1966 Chrysler Imperial, a car known more for luxury than it's handling or safety. (it had neither). I swear the doors alone on that car weighed 400 pounds each, and they had a little trick of appearing to be closed and latched when they really were not.

So, we are cruising along on our way to dinner, doing our best to make small talk using my extremely limited sign language skills, when I make a left turn a tiny bit faster than I should have. I feel a slight breeze, look over, and the young woman is gone. Just...gone. Not a trace of her. WTF?

Looked in the rear-view and saw a body lying on someone's front lawn. Threw the car into a U-turn and immediately figured out what happened as the passenger door again flew open and then bounced back to its original "appears to be closed" position. Thankfully there was no sidewalk on this particular street so when she was ejected from the car the girl landed on the grass, unhurt but covered with grass stains. She was also epically, monsterously, supremely PISSED, and because of the communication gap it was impossible for me to adequately explain or apologize.

Took her home (with her riding in the backseat) and never saw her again.

Still miss that car.

Yes, but a normal person would be concerned a small child is now bleeding and injured, lying on the road with the woman. Normal people are concerned when children need help. They don't drive away happily. Of course, they also don't get neck and face tattoos.

The face and neck tattoos is a fair point, however, considering even an unavoidable accident can get you serious jail time, it's pretty easy to see why someone would keep right on going. Not moral or nice, but I can easily understand the future flashing before someone's eyes and them getting the fark out of there. Maybe he assumed no one would believe the woman bailed from the car with the kid in her arms, even though multiple farkers have wisely pointed out how it's nearly impossible for him to have actually forcded them from the car, despite what the article implies.

HeartBurnKid: What in the world makes you think there was a car seat?

Everybody has a car seat.  Aside from it just being illegal as shiat, its actually the law that when your baby is born, the hospital must verify the safety of the car seat and that you know how to properly strap them in, before the hospital will authorize the release of the baby.

I'm sure you can think up scenarios why somebody wouldnt have one, but I've never heard of it.  Its just one of those things parents have.

Either she was a psycho, or the guy was trying to abduct them against their will and it was her attempt to flee (which would explain him not going back to check on the child).

AHAHAHHAAAAHAA!
No way is that true.   NO WAY!  A hospital has enough liability as it is; they DO NOT need to be in the business of inspecting car seats.  Once they inspect it and deem it safe, they are now liable to a degree.

Not always. An alcoholic ex-grilfriend of mine got supremely shiatfaced at a party, and tried that stunt on the way home. I managed to keep in her in the car, drove her drunk ass straight to an ER, and then... things went south from there.

Last time I saw her, she was cuffed, with a spit-bag over her head, getting tossed in the back of a cruiser.
