Maybe he should have done that instead.

Tengger Cavalry's albums "The Expedition" and "Sunesu Cavalry" are $4 each on Bandcamp right now, HIGHLY recommended.  Mongolian folk metal with traditional instruments.

Thanks for the heads up! That's a great band.

This week I submitted this video (maybe too late if this one'd already been greened):
Portal - Curtain

Vexovoid is one of the best albums this year, no doubt.

/is the acronym for these threads really so hard?

"Mongolian Folk Metal" takes an early lead for the most awesome phrase I'll hear today.

Thanks!  That's damned affordable.  Heard these guys a couple years ago, and was blown away.

Both great albums, instabuy for me.

Indesinence - Paradigms (excellent death/doom)

And Pitchfork loves these guys, so the elitists will dismiss them, but Deafheaven makes some good blackened drone.

There was a video that I thought would be released in time to submit for this but it wasn't.  Oh well.  Maybe next week.

Since we're going off to far away lands in the thread, here's some prog metal/rock from Chile.

This rendition of the song sounds completely uninspired.

Adebisi: but Deafheaven makes some good blackened drone

Ugh. I don't even like drone. But damned if I don't agree that that's an amazing track.

Other than Deafheaven, there is exactly one drone band worth listening to: The Angelic Process.

Kliffoth: Sleep

As a gearhead, I respect the hell out of the sound they developed, but sitting through something like "Dopesmoker" is like watching cardboard chase lint. Doom and drone just ain't for me. High on Fire though, damn did Matt do right. Hope he stays healthy and out of rehab.

Just got back from the Watain show and it was incredible as always. Fourth time I've seen them and they never disappoint. farking intense. But I was a bit annoyed when they GWAR'd the crowd at one point with a cup of blood. The smell and the bloodstains convinced me it was real blood. I could smell the iron in the blood. For real. I think it was real blood.

I love Dopesmoker. One of my all time favourite albums. As one reviewer put it, "Sometimes a riff is so good, you need to listen to it for an hour".

I had a buddy see them a few nights ago and got a face full of blood. Disappointed I didn't get to go this time around, I caught them with Behemoth and the Devil's Blood last year.
