Yeah, snerf is probably happy.

crotchgrabber: smerfnablin: Would it be easier if Jimmie was put in the role as the villain of NASCAR?

He could chase down all the baby face "young guns" and put them in the wall week after week just to wear the black hat...

Is that what you guys would rather have?

I'd rather have him come out just once and say something that isn't the company line. Remember when Kyle won the first COT race at Bristol? He gets out of a WINNING car and calls it a piece of shiat. Fined. Keslowski, the reigning champ says the Gen6 car needs work. Fined. I like the guys that speak opposition to the power. Jimmie just does what he's told. And his crew chief is a cheating son of a biatch.

How do you not get this?

Honestly? I grew up watching NASCAR in the 80s when it was something better. As the sport grew all of a sudden everyone had to be like Jeff Gordon. No offense, but i hated Jeff Gordon. He was given the best equipment too soon and promoted too fast (in my opinion) when the way things had worked in the past you had to earn your ride. Guys who had exceptional talent did amazing things with inferior equipment. Thats how they got discovered.

Fast forward to 8-9 years ago and we got the "young guns" and "primetime." Everything is about marketability and promotion has little to nothing to do with driver skill and style. We get drivers like Logano and Edwards crammed down our throat because they are "Marketable!" Young! Demographics! Driving ability has little to do with nascar now as its all about marketing and setup. As of the Gen-6 car NASCAR officially became formula 1. You set up the car and test for track conditions. Driver ability went right out the door. Watching the career of Dale Jr deteriorate over the tenure of the Car of Tomorrow was depressing. Its all about money and testing now.

Enter Jimmie Johnson.

Most old school fans ate him. Most public relations people hate him. (You will not believe this part) NASCAR hates him! He is flat, vanilla, and not promotable to the die hard fans that cling to the way the sport used to be and the new youngling fans that nascar PR people covet. So who cheers for him? People like me. Chevy people who want to see a driver that can actually speak in complete sentences without using double negatives set up a car and win while going against the odds.

Honestly? I like drivers like Kyle Busch because he has so much God given talent and is a thorn in the side of NASCAR public relations every time he talks.

Until he grows up, i will stick with Jimmie and take the abuse from the Ford and Toyota people.

/btw, i have been quiet after the bullshiat comment directed towards me in the midweek nascar thread

@ESPNNASCAR
Johnson leads Kenseth by 7 points with two races left. Just a reminder, Jimmie led Brad by 7 points heading to Phoenix last year.

"These are 2 guys who kids can look up to. The don't run their mouth telling people how good they are."

I can't believe they are talking up the 2 most boring personalities in Nascar. Johnson and Kenseth have the personalities of a glass of water and a glass of milk, respectively.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Junior was told not to pass JJ in a scenario like the one we ended with.

Will it involve drinking?

For the record, I'd like to have a beer with you.

But this is strange. I truly don't get your rational. I've said it many times, JJ is a hell of a driver. But, like you said he's bland as chalk. Just because noone else likes him, you have to?

Honestly, he just said... in victory lane no less "I enjoy this"

I respect your dedication, and your well-thought-out response.  I admit, the rabid, anti-JJ hate is getting annoying.  We are witnessing history and records being broken.  I still am not a fan, but I respect his talent.

Personally, it isn't hate. I just want some charecter. Seb in F1 has more. Jimmie falling off his golf cart drunk was good but a one time thing. Enbrace drunken foolishness. Let your beard grow more than four days. Do anything interesting and I will love JJ.

I think I found a solution.  We inject some of Bowyer's personality into JJ.  That man's got enough personality to fill the Grand Canyon.

On the plus side, the race gave me a good excuse not to watch the Raiders clusterfark of a game.  Seriously, Nick Foles has seven TD passes?  Raiders defense must not have known about DST ending.

For Sprint Cup debuts, Parker Kligerman's in No. 30 has been decent. He's 24th and is ahead of 21 1 31 and 10.

So you guys want FARK nascar fans to become like no other audience of any other sport, pastime, competition, religion, cube farm gossip session, reality show, or Hippie Love-in in history has ever accomplished by learning to love all the  participants equally with nothing bad to say about any of them? Im guessing that after we all become polite and embrace JJ there will be a paradigm shift and none of us will ever biatch about TV ads and we can all hold hands and write fan letters to Chad Knaus together and forgive them for banning Superbirds, Daytona Chargers, and Talladega Torinos so we could have restrictor plated smallblocks instead

You ever hear the saying "hate the sin love the sinner?"

Same thing in my opinion

I enjoy the driver's for their talent and ability, but fark NASCAR.

The entity as a whole is lying, cheating, scheming and manipulative. They will screw their drivers just to create drama and orchestrate bullshiat PR moves.

For example: 2-3 weeks ago? The 48 had such a huge lead at Charlotte that he pitted under green in first place, changed 4 tires, added a full can of fuel, and left the pits without ever losing the lead.

Good job right? Well done.

NASCAR decides they can't have that so they throw a "debris caution" at the very end just to bunch up the field for a restart and dramatic finish.

No thank you. I don't need that type of manufactured drama in my racing league.

NASCAR should be embarrassed and fans should be irate.

The drivers should rally against that crap and call out NASCAR governing body for their shenanigans.

/just my opinion, sorry to start this rantfest today

i don't think this is a fair analysis, no.  let's take the football threads; they're great, if a bit hard to keep up with due to volume.  there are people rooting for each team, and people rooting against each team.  there are people making fun of the worst teams, and a significant contingent hating on whatever team's closest to a dynasty (currently, the Patriots seem to be the butt of most of that).  but imagine a football thread that was, i don't know, 50% biatching about the Patriots.  50%!  and basically no one rooting for them.  it would get really farking old, just like it does here.

basically all i see on these threads is, "fark Johnson!"  "yeah, and fark NASCAR!!"  "damn this race is FARKING BORING."  rinse, repeat.  i mean, if this is what you all think..... why are you watching?

Well my breakfast just made a repeat appearance.

thoughtpol: why are you watching?

I don't anymore, really.  I popped the tv over to check what was going on in the race, saw with a few laps to go that JJ was running away with it, and turned it off.

My wife, who really has tried to get into it so she has something in common with the rest of my family, just can't because, as she says, "it's the same damn result every week.  How can people stand to watch this?"

Lots of people have this huge beef that JJ is bland, boring, marketable, and he is.  His head has also gotten HUGE and he feels as though he's entitled to free runs to the cup, which is really grating.  My biggest gripe is the constant slobbering over his cawk from the media.  I get it, I'm watching history.  Yay.  The Holocaust was history too (yes I Godwinned this), but it didn't make it cool or good.  Is JJ a good driver?  No, he's a great driver.  Championship-caliber all the way.  You won't see me argue that he is a bad driver.  But I still think that you take away Chad Knaus and he's a three or maybe four time champ through his career.
