All that birther derping over the past five years was just authentic frontier good-old boy ribbing. You silly libs just can't take a joke.

And here we see Cruz beginning his abandonment of the Tea Party and the shift to the center.

Pretty soon it'll be, "what Tea Party?"

Also, I love how Cruz's campaign throws Dad under the bus:

Rushton said in the statement, adding, "Pastor Cruz does not speak for the Senator."

Classy.

At the risk of not being able to sleep tonight, I feel I should point out that there is a non-zero chance that this man will be the next President of the United States.

So you're saying Ted Cruz's conception is the result of anal sex gone horribly wrong?

2013-11-02 11:17:04 PM
Ted, IF your father was making a "joke" he sucks at them. And you are not quite old enough to play the "I had no idea that words are recorded when said in public" card. Treat every mic as if it was live, and every damn word you say is being recorded, and spread across the world at very close to the speed of light. And that every damn reporter, commentator, and web savvy columnist, blogger, or even some dude or dudette in a trailer park can access these words. For years to come. Years.

You want to play in the big leagues, it's time to step up your game.

He doesn't have the nomination yet.

"He is a man of deep integrity."

from the cruz family dictionary:

integrity
ɪnˈtɛgrɪti/
noun

the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. dishonest and having no moral principles.

2013-11-02 11:22:45 PM
He voted to default. He is no longer eligible to be POTUS.

2013-11-02 11:24:15 PM
Based on the other things he has said, should one buy the "joke" defence?

I'll go with "no"

And whether or not he speaks for the Senator is not really important anyway.  Ted Cruz brings the derp without needing help.

Sure. Same for Sarah Palin.

President Palin
THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND OR TWO.
Then try to sleep.

"It was a joke" is right there behind "overzealous staffer" in the GOP excuse book.

Hey, Ted Cruz, you're a lying, hateful, bigoted, racist, moronic douchebag.

Hahahahahahahaha, funny, right?  What a joker I am.

You cock.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. How can an immigrant to the US make disparaging comments about a man just because he's POSSIBLY from another country? I'm sure skin color has nothing to do with it, right?

Sorta like how the GOP holds Obama a failure for everything that happens even remotely related to him, but when it's a GOP person, its the above-mentioned "overzealous staffer"?

Please step off, son. Here, let me help you. You are neither old enough nor smart enough to ride an escalator without adult supervision.

So Ted Cruz, a Hasidim, and a gay cowboy walk into a bar. A monkey jumps on Ted Cruz's head, and dry humps his face to completion.

/That's the joke

2013-11-03 01:07:57 AM
LOL.  Call Ted Cruz a pussy all you want.  There isn't a single person here who could look Ted Cruz in the face and beat the crap out of the bodyguards in front of him.

2013-11-03 01:08:18 AM
Holding Senator Cruz accountable for statements issued by his father is a sign of an inability to actually argue against the Senator's own positions. I suspect that liberals will next attempt to attack statements issued by a minister of the church attended by Senator Cruz, as though Senator Cruz were also responsible for those statements.

2013-11-03 01:10:28 AM
Ted Cruz is too homely to win the presidency.  Maybe the Republican nomination, but no way he can win the general, not when it looks like he walks around all day wearing a latex mask of himself.  I swear to god, the guy's skin hangs wrong like he's had botox or something; he looks rubbery.

A Joe McCarthy rubber mask.

What a coincidence Ted, because when people in America say you should be sent back to Canada, they're dead serious.

Look, you have a huge country with a massive population, fairly reasonably well educated (in comparison to any countries).

What the hell are you doing in having such a shallow gene pool of politicians?  I mean, is the selection process least intelligent and principled wins???

I have a question. Is Ted Cruz responsible for his own comments supporting his fathers statement? Or is he not responsible for the things he says?

2013-11-03 01:34:15 AM

b2theory: He voted to default. He is no longer eligible to be POTUS.

Unfortunately, that doesn't remove his eligibility to be President.

Now, what might remove his eligibility is his citizenship, or lack thereof. Does he fit all the requirements to be a natural-born citizen? Did his parents meet the requirements to pass on their own citizenship, despite his being born in Canada?

Now, I'm not saying that Ted Cruz is an Castro-sponsored Communist deliberately sabotaging America's government, I'm just asking questions.

Smear tactics.. like reporting what he said.

At least the media can do that much, sometimes.  They just don't filter out falsehoods.

If I was in elected office (God help everyone if that ever happened), and one of my family members said something that the media decide to project onto me, I would do exactly the same thing. Cruz is the elected official. His dad is a pastor. His dad can say anything he wants. I don't support Ted Cruz or his politics, but I don't really care what his father has to say, one way or the other.
