Even as a Republican I felt that Crist had a good head on his shoulders.

I like Nan Rich, but anybody is better than Scott.  Hell, I'd take Jeb Bush again over Scott.

FL is purple, maybe trending blue, but a truly liberal candidate would have more trouble here than a centrist, and Crist seems to fit the moderate bill pretty well.

At this point I'd get behind anyone who promised to fight the insurance companies and roll back the rate increases that Scott approved.

FTFA: Gov. Rick Scott has a goal of raising $100 million for the campaign.

Jesus, the money in politics is obscene. This is for one state's governor. Yes, it's a pretty populous state, but Jesus that's a lot of money for a governor's race.

"I sign letters all the time that I have not read," Scott said.
Jack Ayers, the plaintiff's lawyer, pressed Scott to describe what he meant in the letter by saying they had an "understanding."
"What is it?" Ayers asked.
"It's a letter," Scott said.
Ayers: "What does it say?"
Scott: "It says these words."
Ayers: "And what does that mean to you? If you were to characterize that?"
Scott: "I would characterize it as a letter with these words."

I just find it lovely that a bunch of old people elected a corrupt former hospital/insurance CEO to run their state and are surprised by the results.

My mom blames everything bad on Obama, even if it was 100% the responsibility of the state government. And when she's not blaming Obama, she blames Pelosi for some reason. Of course, the only news channel that's ever on at my mom's is Fox so that probably explains it.

If it makes you feel any better, my father married a woman who thinks that because a friend of mine, who works in the IT department at a college, has mild communist sympathies, he's a threat to the nation. Notice I didn't say college, or town, or state. I said nation.

I live in the one of the bluer parts of Florida, but Rick Scott is pretty reviled here.  He has the lowest approval rating of any governor in the union for a reason.

Crist, despite his party jumping, is pretty well liked from my anecdotal subset.  I don't see him having much trouble winning.

Will be voting for Charlie. He was a good governor who did his best to keep the more radical elements in check, and actually seemed to give a damn about the people who live here....not just his business cronies or the agendas of his campaign backers.

/not a republican, but voted for Crist then.

More than how he's given health insurance companies carte blanche to jack up rates and made it law that they have to blame it on Obamacare (which is despicable) I'm pissed off about how he's given home insurance companies free reign to raise rates dramatically.

Crist vetoed a bill that would have allowed it, Scott has gutted Citizens, which was the state owned insurance of last resort, forced them to dramatically raise rates, and allowed private insurers to jack rates up sky high.

It's almost as if he doesn't realize a lot of Floridians are barely holding onto their homes, and that with his policies insurance payments are starting to eclipse mortgage principal and interest for a lot of homeowners.

Considering the latest polls before Crist even declared his intent, show he's ahead 12 points against Scott, I think that's not true... Most people, Republican and Democrats are sick of Scott's bullshiat

Frankly anyone the Dems run would be better alternative than Rick Scott, he's done more to fark Florida up than any governor I can recall in the last 20+ years.

On another note, Charlie Crist works for the law firm of Morgan and Morgan, which is pushing the medical marijuana on the ballot for 2014... I suspect that Crist would lean much favorably allowing it.

I know they are ambulance chasers, but (at least according to their commercials) they've pledged to fighting the law that bars suing if you don't see a doc within 14 days of an accident.

That's a positive regardless of their business model.  The medical marijuana thing would be a bonus.

They may be in a suspect industry, but even trash heaps have a peak.

Florida and legal weed. Holy hell, we'd need a Florida tab. I have been eyeing the Tampa area, that would definitely make the decision easier.

Their commercials do a LOT to educate the public. They've been sued at least once for daring to educate people on things like the non joinder statute. And that 14 day thing... Seriously, how many people would think they only have 14 days to seek medical benefits. " MAN I'm sore... hate doctors though, let me take it easy for a couple weeks and see if it goes away." Day 15, when you finally break down and go to a doctor. "Looks like you ruptured a disc..."

From what I've seen of Crist way up here in the Calif high desert, he seems like a level-headed guy I could see voting for. I guess that means he doesn't stand a chance in Florida.

When Republicans say Democrats are doing something vile and reprehensible, Democrats can correctly respond, "That's a complete fabrication and a vicious lie."

Even the hard-core derpers around here (Melbourne/Brevard County) don't like him much. They aren't happy about many of his policies - especially the insurance hikes Tute mentioned above.

Crist is a known quantity, and most admit he did a decent job as Gov. This will be an interesting race to watch.

Also, he's been doing commercials for a trial attorney for the last few years which makes him seem a bit slimy.

Crist was a Republican who worked for Jeb Bush.
He is an Oompa Loompa. Short, with orange skin and white hair.

And I will both vote for him and give him campaign money.
Charlie Crist was a good Governor. Rick Scott is a farking nightmare.

Point taken.

However, Crist has all the bad baggage of Bush association, party reaffiliation, and opportunism. I just don't see it.

You don't seem to get how much Rick Scott is hated. I've never campaigned for anyone in my life and I'm old. I'l campaign against Scott.
