Well, what else did they have to do?

2004-01-20 07:12:58 PM
What Cusak and Chase didn't know is that they were actually on a Saudi game show entitled "Will the Western Devils Defile the Land of Allah?"

I guess they won. They weren't beheaded.

You see, the problem here is that my little brother this morning, got his arm caught in the microwave and my grandmother dropped acid and she freaked out and hijacked a school bus full of penguins so you see its kind of a family crisis so come back later? Great.

2004-01-20 07:13:59 PM

I wonder if Baba au Rum had any comment.

A perfect match: Two guys go to a society obsessed that is obsessed with being offended or humiliated by anyone, representing a society that is obsessed with apologizing for offending or humiliating anyone.

Judith Kipper?
Michael Golden?

Let's just pretend they're Episcopalian while they're in the Kingdom, ok?

I'm sorry your mom blew herself up in an act of Jihad, Ricky.

From the article:

Cusack was also surprised by his being recognized. I had no idea my movies played here mistakenly thinking movie theaters existed in the Kingdom.

Emphasis mine

A half hour panel discussion???? After the introductions, translations they're left with what 18 minutes to solve the world's problems.

Give me a break. Why is it that these celebrities think that by virtue of their fame that they automatically have something relevant to say about any issue?

stoolpigeon

would YOU want to have darkened rooms where men and women sat together watching images of other men and women on the giant screen? Dens of iniquity is what those places are, and the Mullahs are RIGHT to outlaw them.

Isn't Chevy Chase almost homeless these days?

And reef, it's a celebrity's responsibility to use his power to advocate good (leftist) causes. It's not optional, it's an obligation. Same way with journalists...they've been given power to influence, and to "misuse" it would be a great crime. I'm serious.

"There are people whose goal is to convince others of their point of view... even if its misguided, in direct contradiction to his previous assertion that the press was not trying to convince people of a particular point of view."

well genius, "there are people" and "the press" can be seen as two different things (nuance alert!)

i'm glad to be an evil american if this is what passes as journalism in the saud kingdom

Ahh, but was there any Arab stereotyping in them? Exactly! :-p

However, he suggested going to the more respected and balanced media outlets such as New York Times, CNN and NBC. These, in his opinion, try to present what is happening in the whole world including the Arab world and the Middle East and it is there that they can have an impact on the debate by presenting Arab views

He forgot Fox News which is fair and balanced!

I've had enough of these people.

If they want to take everything personally and be offended by everything in existence, then they can do it in hell. Get off my planet, farkwads.

So the Arabs are paying big dollors for used-up-has-been-American-actors. What the hell is wrong with the American classic BOOBIE tour?
Farrah Faucett, Suzanne Summers, Pamela Lee Anderson...
