He's too hilarious to fire. It's like trying to fire Chris Farley.

By the way, are we running a death pool?

Well, it is Toronto.

2013-11-02 11:27:11 AM
He is getting support from the elusive crack smoking millionaire demographic.

Well, it was at the point where it certainly couldn't go down...Plus, as a former resident of Brampton, I think it must be stressed to Americans that Canada is not the utopia of liberal/progressive values news media makes it or to be. There's plenty of bitter ignorant herp, and it's not just in Manitoba. I mean, how do you think Harper still has a job?

2013-11-02 11:31:58 AM
No one cares if he smokes crack as long as he keeps the street free from all the crackheads.

2013-11-02 11:36:56 AM
I'm shocked  that there are those who'd rally to defend this cracker from a "smear campaign".

Someone people do not need a video to show that they are on crack. Like Subby.

Gee, Sun News reporting that nothing can target the rugged, individualistic, charismatic, rebellious (in an authoritarian sort of way) image of a conservative politician.

He's taking crack off the streets... One hit at a time.

Sad face, I'm growing to like small parts of Manitoba. Also, it's Sun News, therefore it's crap.

Ghastly: Gee, Sun News reporting that nothing can target the rugged, individualistic, charismatic, rebellious (in an authoritarian sort of way) image of a conservative politician.

It actually reads more subtly anti-Ford than I expected out of the Sun.  A lot of "sure, he was shiatfaced in public on St. Patrick's Day last year, everyone around him is telling him to resign, the police have a video of him smoking crack and nearly all of his problems are his own fault -- but he was elected and we can't get rid of him."

2013-11-02 11:51:57 AM
He's the Canuck version of Rush Limbaugh, so there's that.

2013-11-02 11:54:02 AM
In a stunning turn of events that surprises absolutely no one, Sun News, who eviscerated Justin Trudeau for admitting to smoking pot, is now staunchly defending Rob Ford from the "jackals" and "political assassins" who aren't impressed with him for lying about smoking crack.

The helpful picture of what Rob Ford might look like behind bars did make me smile, though.

Stupid Sun. How do you log in to comment? It seems impossible without a Facebook account and I haven't had one of those in years and never want to have another.

Blind partisanship has destroyed politics. There's stand behind your man and then there's common sense and decency, which would drop him at the earliest possible momentt.

Ford looks like a swine and acts like a swine. Surely they vetted him before he became candidate. They chose a swine or else they failed to perform due diligence. He not only likes to party with thugs, he behaves as a thug and there is evidence a member or more than one member of his family is dealing.

As far as I am concerned he does not represent Toronto or Canada, but he does represent his apologists and die-hard Tory supporters now that the evidence is on the table.

This is not the first instance of thuggery in politics but this time the guy is on film stoned out of his tiny little mind with criminal BFFs. If his driver was holding that video as insurance or to blackmail the Mayor, he has already demonstrated that the Mayor is vulnerable to blackmail by criminals, and even if he is never charged with other criminal activity himself, or his brother, or whoever, then he is exposed as a high risk.

The comments thread was more full of "Yeah, buts" than that gross white trash Vicky from Little Britain.

2013-11-02 12:52:14 PM
Regardless of what he was caught doing, he clearly doesn't give a shiat about Toronto so he shouldn't be mayor.

Close2TheEdge: Wow.  There is some AMAZING levels of cognitive dissonance in the comments section.

I suspect the crack-smoking mayor is about the least of Canada's troubles. Just give Sun News a couple more years to infest the airwaves, and they all will be at each other's throats just like 'Muricans.

Yaaaay.  Canadians are being noticed.  They're talking about us.  We matter.

2013-11-02 12:56:37 PM
His base (not freebase) is still for him, but there is a lot of talk that this popularity increase is a "dead cat bounce".

I would love to see him resign, but I think the dead pool is more likely.

Lost Thought 00: No one cares if he smokes crack as long as he keeps the street free from all the crackheads.

Maybe that's his strategy, to smoke all the available crack himself thus cleaning the streets from crackheads. Rather brilliant.

2013-11-02 12:58:15 PM
Yeah, I'm not sure why people are still supporting him at this point.

I've read through the warrant, and there is enough in there to put reasonable doubt in any rational persons brain. Why is Ford calling Lisi ( a known drug dealer) 3-4 times a day? And those are just the calls we know about.

Because due to election inequality for voting power in Canada, Once Ontario finishes voting, a Prime Minister is officially elected.
The Western Provinces votes are just for the opposition.

/All the Totonto/Montreal immigrants who went to Western Canada, to create rioting, also skew the election

The people who elected Ford like the fact that he's sticking it to the urbans and the intellectuals by staying in office. Sure, he's a crack-smoking, drug-dealer-associating lunatic, but the lefties hate him, and furthermore also.

The resistance to facts and sense is a disease. It's a mind-virus. We should just have another war, another citizen/soldier war like WWIII... seems to be about the only thing that eliminates head-in-the-sand dumbfarkery from the breeding pool. I'd gladly die charging some bunker if it meant 10 Morontonians would die with me, if only to allow a few smarter people to live and breed.

Montreal? This Sunday you guys go to the polls for like the 4th time in a year to try to elect a non corrupt Mayor. That's gotta be some kind of a record.

Between that, Harper still being in power and the Ford thing I'm now thinking of changing the national anthem from "Oh, Canada" to "Oh, FFS".

There aren't any political parties in Ontario municipal elections.

TV's Vinnie: Canadian Farkers, help me out here. Is Toronto pronounced in the Canadian tongue as "Toe Ron Toe" or "'Trannah", or is the latter just how those louts in Hamilton say it?

A multitude of different ways.

sheep snorter: Because due to election inequality for voting power in Canada, Once Ontario finishes voting, a Prime Minister is officially elected.
The Western Provinces votes are just for the opposition.

Which is exactly why the current government has it's support base in Western Canada.

Without the Western Provinces or territories, Harper currently has 7 more seats than the NDP alone and 23 less than a NDP and Liberal coalition. If the West were evenly split you have either a Harper minority or NDP-Liberal Coalition.

Yes Ontario has a bigger impact, but that is because 38% of Canadians live there. An absolute majority of Canadians live in Ontario and Quebec. Economically the numbers are similar, Ontario's GDP is 37% and is a majority of the Canadian GDP when combined with Quebec. This doesn't even account for the Atlantic provinces.

It isn't unreasonable that Ontario has 34% of MPs (to rise to 36% next election)

We're so obsessed with ourselves that we willingly misinterpret bumblefark's infamy as fame. They're talking about us! Hooray! ZERO sense of civic responsibility, as long as fat Lindsay Lohan is our mayor. Seriously, America... INVADE. We've got lots of stuff. Crack makes people act weird as hell. For the past week I've thought there was something kinda off about a friend of mine who used to be a former crackhead. Well don't you know yesterday she told me she had started smoking crack again. It just makes me sad to see her go down that road again.

As someone born and raised in Peterborough, and living in Toronto for the last number of years, I have to say... I still pronounce it "toe ron toe" (or at least "Toe'ron'tuh if rushed), and am unfamiliar with whatever white trash/redneck dialect you're referencing... although there are enough of them in/around Peterborough, I suppose

I left Toronto when he was elected mayor, however,
to keep myself from walking around in a state of perpetual outrage.

/even if it's just weed, it's not mayor-like i suppose
