"Right in the middle of the library, in front of God and everybody," attorney Joseph CampBell said.  He's representing Jaime Kurz who was terminated last week.

Why was God at the library?  If God wasn't going to stop them, why should anyone else?  Explain your comments, CaMpBeLl!

This is why you carry a pair of nipple clamps and a gimp mask.

When you catch people having public sex, and you will, you whip out the mask and attach the clamps OVER your shirt (you can even fake it here) and leap out and say "HEEEEEEEERRRRREEEEEEEEEE'S JOHNNY!"

Worst case scenario: they let you join.

I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon...

CampBell and God was right where I stopped reading and decided, as is my wont, that the solution probably featured a heap of smoking skulls.

It's only frowned upon because everyone's so touchy after 9/11. Thanks, Bin Laden.

The town terminated Carter's employment two weeks ago. "They're two outsiders, non-locals," he said.  "You know, they stumbled upon and kicked up a hornets nest."

Seriously, just run.

Small towns with that kind of mentality are horror movies in progress. You win this, yay you win. But you never get in a car again without the cops giving you a ticket for something, because they're the mayor's kids or nephews or something. You find severed animal heads in your mailbox. Mysterious fires happen. Pets die.

"terminated for failing to turn over keys to the library when asked"

And why was she being asked to turn over the keys? Because she was being terminated.

I would think, if anything he'd be there drawing pee pees and wee wees in all of Richard Dawkin's and Christopher Hitchons works but that's just me.

The phrase "in front of God and everybody" has never made sense to me. I mean, the everybody part I get, but it gives the impression that the speaker thinks there's someplace you could go where God couldn't see you.

So not only was she fired for reporting a public sex act, the person she reported it to was also fired? WTF?

See unlikely's post. It's a small town with a small town mindset. The fornicators were local while these two are outsiders.

Their best course of action is to move far away and never look back.

Wouldn't their best course of action be to sue for wrongful termination with the intent of being paid for what they should have earned in their prospective careers, and also move far away?

That's what they are doing, and I think they're lining themselves up for a world of hurt.

In the town where I grew up, if an outsider sued the city and it was tried in the city, the judge would have been the Mayor's poker buddy or fellow Mason. The defense would have alibis and witnesses vouching that the fornicators were elsewhere at the time, they'd have witnesses that saw the outsiders pilfering the library.

If they just lose the suit and don't wind up in jail on the testimony of several local witnesses they'll have gotten of lucky.

''...they fall in a protected class under the Whistleblower Protection Act since they reported misconduct or inappropriate behavior''

Sounds like they'll end up with enough money to afford to move away in style

In a phone conversation with Catherine Robinson, the city's attorney, Robinson said Kurz and Carter were not terminated for reporting the alleged sex act, but said she could not elaborate since it was a personnel matter.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, sweetheart.

Would god even care? From my youthful sundays trapped at church IIRC god kinda took a bit of offense at Adam and Eve trying to cover up their nakedness.

Looking at the history in Google Earth, it was built after I left in 2002. Guess that explains it :)
