3 2 1 until jokes involving 'probing', Catholic priests and alter boys.
I'd come up with one, but I'm still waking up.

They realized that their views so far sucked and that is was time to catch up from behind to enter into a new age of deeper understanding. Then again, they could just have asked any of their clergy.

Pope gives "Jesus doesn't give a shait/Jesus would ask more than just wargarbbl" statement.

Later, Congregation of the Faith clarifies with "WARRGABBLUS! GAYZ EVUL! GO TO HELL!"

They are quickly becoming irrelevant and know it and they know it. They no longer wield the power they once did. How many of their tenets are they willing to abandon? How many of their laws are they willing to ignore? Then, once they profess no beliefs and only seek popularity or acceptance, will they not become irrelevant  anyway?

Religion is a dead end.

You know all the talk about the Pope being infallible, and the clarification that there's only been two official statements (the original infallible proclamation, and the Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception).

The Congregation of the Faith has been really REALLY reminding the Faithful with this Pontiff.

The poll is distributed by the bishops, results are to be collected and reported by the bishops.

Guess what results in the US will look like.

They should have the poll done by Rasmussen. It'll be far less off.

Here's the thing, Francis damn well knows what Catholics think on various issues. He doesn't need these surveys in the least. What the surveys give him though is a way to squeeze the bishops. Basically it's being able to show that the average Catholic agrees with him and that the bishops need to go along with it.

The Pope knows that people under 35 are very tolerant of homosexuals, as polls like this show.  When the bishops get "different" results, they'll get spanked twicet:

One of two things will happen:

The polls will show how tolerant most Catholics have gotten on these issues and there will be much hand-wringing about the declining morals of people.

Or the bishops will fudge the results to show that people really hate teh gheys and women's rights, etc.

Either way, most reasonable Catholics will continue not to give a fark about what other people are doing in their bedrooms.

/not Catholic
//atheist who doesn't give a fark if people want to believe something else as long as it doesn't affect me

Could have been a lot better Headline though.

"Vatican gets behind deep probe into Catholic's view on same sex marriage."

or

"Vatican eagerly probes Catholic's.....

etc.
